EA Sports FC 25 Paid Season Pass: Everything you need to know

EA Sports FC 25 will include a paid season pass as an additional option to earn rewards in Clubs, Career and Ultimate Team, according to a report from VG247.

FC 25, the next iteration in EA Sports' video game franchise, was revealed July 17 with Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham taking up the cover star mantle. First reveals are usually focused on gameplay updates, features and new modes with mode-specific changes are saved for later reveals. Though, a major Ultimate Team reveal has got fans questioning how it'll be implemented.

EA Sports is introducing a paid season pass option on top of the free Season Progress path that fans have grown accustomed to over the years in FUT/UT.

VG247's James Billcliffe talked to Ultimate Team producer Karthik Venkateshan at a preview event for the game.

What you need to know about the EA Sports FC 25 Premium Tier Paid Season Pass

According to Venkateshan, the Premium tier will unlock additional bonuses linking together the game's three core pillar modes on top of what's already offered through the free tier. "The free tier would be essentially what players see in the game today."

Though, it may not be all doom and gloom. According to Richard Waltz, an Ultimate Team game design director, "At a high level, there will be nothing in the paid tier that can't be earned in the free tier. There's no exclusive rewards that will mean you have to do that." Waltz also highlighted that the premium tier will be purchasable with coins or FC Points.

Exact rewards weren't discussed or revealed, but fans would rest much easier knowing the premium tier only adds rewards for Clubs and Career. Most players engage with Ultimate Team each year, though there are player bases who solely play Clubs or Career. Having a play-to-earn option for the pass is a good start, but putting anything new behind a paywall in a game is going to upset players who already pay money for each year.

Waltz mentioned that there will be players, packs, "that sort of thing," in Clubs and customization options as part of the premium version. But, how does that tie into the fact that there will be nothing earned in the paid tier that players can't get in the free tier?

Expect more details to emerge regarding the new paid season pass as we near release and specific reveals for Ultimate Team and Clubs.
