England vs United States - World Cup: Team news, lineups & prediction
By Tom Gott
England and the United States will continue their World Cup journeys when they butt heads on Friday at Al Bayt Stadium.
The Three Lions come into this one feeling great after they thumped Iran 6-2, climbing to the top of Group B and needing just one more victory to book their spot in the knockout stages of the tournament.
As for the US, they gave up a lead to draw 1-1 with Wales in their opener and, with their first opponents up against Iran earlier in the day, they could find themselves needing a big result here to keep up the pace.
Here's everything you need to know about this game.

England team news
England manager Gareth Southgate was confident that the ankle injury Harry Kane picked up against Iran was nothing serious, while he also confirmed that centre-back Harry Maguire was dealing with an illness when he was substituted, rather than a concussion.
James Maddison is yet to return to training as he deals with a hamstring injury, but there is hope that Kyle Walker could make his first appearance of the tournament after making it to the bench last time out.
Callum Wilson, who came off the bench against Iran, also missed a training session on Tuesday.
England predicted lineup vs United States
England Starting 11 (4-3-3): Pickford; Trippier, Stones, Maguire, Shaw; Rice, Bellingham, Foden; Saka, Kane, Sterling.
Bench: Pope, Ramsdale, Coady, Dier, White, Alexander-Arnold, Walker, Phillips, Mount, Gallagher, Henderson, Grealish, Rashford, Wilson.
United States team news
Midfielder Yunus Musah limped off the field against Wales with what appeared to be a toe injury, while another US midfielder, Weston McKennie also appeared to tweak his groin in the same game. With such a short turnaround, both players are obvious doubts here.
Sergino Dest was also substituted after initially being a doubt to start the Wales game, so he may not be risked so soon after a surprise outing.
Gregg Berhalter also overruled Gio Reyna's declaration that he was fit enough to play by benching the Dortmund man, who will hope to see his first minutes of the tournament here.
United States predicted lineup vs England
United States Starting 11 (4-3-3): Turner; Yedlin, Zimmerman, Ream, Robinson; Adams, Acosta, Aaronson; Weah, Wright, Pulisic.
Bench: Horvath, Johnson, Carter-Vickers, Long, Moore, Scally, Dest, McKennie, Musah, De la Torre, Roldan, Reyne, Morris, Ferreira, Sargent
England vs United States score prediction
England will be feeling strongest heading into this one, and rightly so. They stormed through Iran, whereas the US' hot start against Wales was unsustainable as they faded away and ultimately lost out on two points.
Berhalter is under pressure already and won't be relishing going up against this England side, and his case won't be helped by two of his favoured midfielders picking up injuries in his first game.
You can always find a way through this England side, who were caught out twice against Iran, but the Three Lions will bank on being able to outscore their opponents.
Prediction: England 3-1 United States
