England have confirmed the full squad numbers that the Lionesses will be wearing at the upcoming Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Fans keen to buy shirts printed with the names of their favourite players have been waiting patiently for confirmation of the numbers since the squad was first announced last month.

A big hint as to who would wear what shirt Down Under came on Saturday when Sarina Wiegman's team for the home farewell friendly against Portugal did not wear 1-11 as normal.

The headline decision is Rachel Daly securing the number nine shirt ahead of Alessia Russo, who retains the number 23 she wore at Euro 2022 and is known for at club level.

Ella Toone has been assigned number 10, having seen Georgia Stanway switch to eight in Leah Williamson's absence. Euro 2022 hero Chloe Kelly keeps the 18 shirt she wore at that tournament. Meanwhile, Lauren James takes over the number seven shirt from the injured Beth Mead.

Niamh Charles, at her first senior international tournament has been handed number three. The versatile star is battling with Jess Carter to start at left-back and this could be a clue as to who might get the nod on the pitch come 22 July when the Lionesses kick off against Haiti.

The likes of Keira Walsh, Lucy Bronze, Mary Earps, Lauren Hemp, Alex Greenwood and interim captain Millie Bright all retain the same shirts they wore last summer at Euro 2022.
