Erik ten Hag is eyeing up another reunion with one of his former Ajax stars, according to a report, with striker Brian Brobbey the latest name to be linked with a switch to Manchester United.
Ten Hag brought centre-back Lisandro Martinez and winger Antony over when he joined United in 2022, parting with a combined £143m to land the duo, and later added his Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana for an additional £47m.
In 2022, Ten Hag also failed with an attempt to sign Brobbey, who recently confirmed he snubbed a switch to United in favour of returning to Ajax from RB Leipzig, but the 21-year-old striker could be set for another chance to move to Old Trafford.
Indeed, Sky Germany state Ten Hag is keen to land Brobbey's signature this winter after watching him bag nine goals and four assists in 16 Eredivisie games this season.
Ajax, however, are reluctant to do business this month and would prefer to discuss a sale at the end of the season.
WILL THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW DELIVER?
Brobbey made his senior debut for Ajax under Ten Hag in October 2020 and quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young strikers around. He joined RB Leipzig on a free transfer in 2021 but returned to Amsterdam on loan after just six months and bagged seven goals in 11 league games under Ten Hag.
The Dutch boss tried to sign Brobbey for United that summer but he had his heart set on a permanent return to Ajax, although the pair's bond is understood to remain as strong as ever.
United are keen to sign a new striker over the next six months but 90min understands the focus this winter is on outgoings, with a low-cost move for an attacker only possible if enough money can be freed up.
There could be a concrete move for a new forward in the summer. Bologna's Joshua Zirkzee is another target for Ten Hag, who is seeking some more assistance for Rasmus Hojlund.
