Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag expects Marcus Rashford to renew his contract with the club.

The 25-year-old has shown the best form of his career during 2022/23 and became the first player since Robin van Persie in 2013 to score 30 or more goals in a season when he netted in the 4-1 win over Chelsea on Thursday.

17 of Rashford's goals have come in the Premier League - matching his 2019/20 haul - while a further 13 have been added in FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Europa League competition.

Rashford is a graduate from United's academy and has already played over 350 games for the club in all competitions. But his career at Old Trafford looked to be heading in the wrong direction, with just five goals last season fuelling speculation that he'd move away from Manchester.

Things have been different since Ten Hag took charge last summer, though, and Rashford is now producing the best football of his career. His United contract has just a year to run but there's an overwhelming confidence from the Dutch boss that an extension will be agreed soon enough.

"I expect Marcus Rashford to renew,” Ten Hag told Viaplay. “He wants it. Manchester United wants it. He is a child of this club, so I assume this will happen."

Rashford has enjoyed the majority of his success this season playing as a left-sided forward, but he's also been asked to play centrally amid ongoing injury struggles for Anthony Martial and a goal drought for Wout Weghorst.

Playing out wide would appear to be what the future holds for United given Ten Hag's transfer plans this summer. 90min understands that the Red Devils want to add two centre forwards to Ten Hag's squad this summer - one first choice striker to lead the line and another to replace Weghorst, who will return to Burnley after his loan spell ends.

Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Lautaro Martinez and Dusan Vlahovic are four players who have been considered by United to varying degrees - each would cost in excess of £70m - while Evan Ferguson, Rasmus Hojlund, Santiago Gimenez, Goncalo Ramos, Benjamin Sesko and Mohammed Kudus have also been identified as potential targets for now and in the future.
