Erik ten Hag delivers latest Man Utd team news: Sancho, Shaw & Dalot
Erik ten Hag has provided updates on the fitness of Jadon Sancho, Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw ahead of Manchester United's FA Cup fourth round clash with Reading.
The Red Devils go into the game as heavy favourites thanks to their brilliant form in the Premier League and the fact that Reading currently sit in mid-table in the Championship.
Speaking to the press ahead of the game, Ten Hag stated that, despite a few injury concerns, he has a 'strong' squad to select from.
"We always have issues, but I think tomorrow, we have a strong selection for this game. 'We have a good squad, we have depth in the squad, so we can cover things," he said.
"[Diogo] Dalot is definitely out, and I think also [Luke] Shaw is a question mark. We have to see after this training session, after this day, if he [Shaw] is available or not.
"I think Aaron [Wan-Bissaka] and Ty [Malacia] are playing magnificent at the moment. On Wednesday, they were really brilliant. The whole back four was brilliant on Wednesday. We are happy in the back four, we have depth in the squad. That's what we need when you have to cover 10 games in 30 days and hopefully it will continue after that as well."
Ten Hag also provided an updated on Sancho's fitness, with the forward having missed the last few months of action: "He is training with the team and we will see. He is improving, he is making steps, we will make the decision after the training.
"He's on the way back, he's making steps, so he's back in team training and now we have to see when he is ready to go back into the games."
The Promised Land's take
Here's what the team on 90min's 'The Promised Land' Manchester United podcast had to say ahead of the game:
Rob Blanchette - "I don't think we're going to see a lot of forced rotation. I think it'll just be a solid base of the team with seven or eight starters, and maybe a few changes. We might even see Jack Butland for his first game in goal, but I don't think it's going to be dramatic, I think he'll [Ten Hag] still feel that he has to go and get the job done against Reading.
"The last thing you need is to let Reading come and punch you in the face and knock you out of a competition, because suddenly your [form] bubble's burst."
