Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed the club have yet to decide whether to keep centre-back duo Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans at the club beyond this summer.
The pair are both in the final six months of their contracts but United do hold the option to trigger a 12-month extension for Varane, with that final year initially believed to be guaranteed before later being confirmed as an option.
Asked whether United want to keep the duo beyond this season, Ten Hag responded bluntly: "We haven't made that decision yet."
United also have Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and the injured Lisandro Martinez as centre-back options, but they are expected to be active in the summer transfer window in search of further reinforcements.
There has been tentative interest in Barcelona's Ronald Araujo but 90min understands the Uruguay international is not looking to move clubs.
Another option for Ten Hag is emerging youngster Willy Kambwala. The 19-year-old has managed four appearances for the senior side this season and recently reflected on the realisation of his dream of playing for United.
