Erik ten Hag press conference: Rashford injury, Ronaldo latest, FC Sheriff test
By Sean Walsh
Erik ten Hag has spoken to the media ahead of Manchester United's Europa League clash with Moldovan side FC Sheriff.
The Red Devils kicked off their group stage campaign last Thursday with a disappointing 1-0 loss at home to Real Sociedad.
United's trip to Crystal Palace was cancelled following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, while their upcoming home clash with bitter rivals Leeds has been postponed due to a shortage of police resources, making their match with Sheriff the last before the international break.
Here's what Ten Hag had to say at his pre-match press conference.
Marcus Rashford
What's the latest injury news on Marcus Rashford?
"He's not available. The consequence after Arsenal. He has a muscle injury.
"I don't think [he will be out for] too long, but I cannot tell how long. It's not really bad and we expect him to be back quite soon."
Has Rashford done enough to earn an England recall?
"It's quite clear [he can make the squad], sure, yes. He's shown his great potential and quality [this season].
Cristiano Ronaldo
Is Cristiano Ronaldo going to start up front again then?
"I'm sorry but the Moldovan fans will have to wait until tomorrow [to find out]."
FC Sheriff
Are FC Sheriff capable of beating Manchester United?
"It's quite clear, they beat Real Madrid and Shakhtar, they are capable. We have to make it our game but we are conscious of that fact. They are a serious and decent opponent and we have to play our best for the win."
Is there more pressure to win after losing against Real Sociedad?
"Pressure is for every game, we have to win every game. When you lose the first game, you have to win the second, so we know what our task is. We always play a strong team, so also tomorrow we will play a strong team.
"I think our players are used to playing every third day a game. If that's not the case, we use the days for training sessions. We are well prepared for the game tomorrow."
