Erik ten Hag's record in cup finals
Despite being in the relatively early stages of his managerial career, Erik ten Hag has already competed in a number of cup finals.
How managers do in those matches can be crucial to how successful they ultimately are at their clubs, and Ten Hag has had a few successes, but his fair share of defeats too.
Here's what his overall record as a manager in cup finals is.
How many cup finals has Erik ten Hag reached as a manager?
Since really kickstarting his managerial career at FC Utrecht in 2015 following a two-year spell in charge of Bayern Munich II, Ten Hag has enjoyed a lot of success in cup competitions.
He reached the final of the KNVB Beker, the Netherlands' equivalent to the FA Cup, once with Utrecht and three times with Ajax.
Thanks to the league titles he won as Ajax manager, he also competed in the Dutch Super Cup, officially called the Johan Cruijff Schaal, three times.
How many cup finals has Erik ten Hag won as a manager?
The most important cup finals Ten Hag took charge of in the Netherlands were the four KNVB Beker finals that he reached, and he had a 50/50 record in them.
He entered the first of them as manager of the underdogs, and there was no shame in being unable to defeat Feyenoord with his Utrecht side, losing 2-1.
Three years later, his Ajax team were the heavy favourites against Willem II and lived up to expectations, cruising to a 4-0 victory.
They went on to win a second consecutive Beker when they beat Vitesse 2-1 thanks to a last-minute winner from David Neres, but couldn't make it three in a row, losing 2-1 to a Cody Gakpo-inspired PSV side in 2022.
Ten Hag suffered defeat to PSV in the Johan Cruijff Schaal too with his side being thrashed 4-0 in 2021, but they did at least beat the Eindhoven side the previous year.
