Erik ten Hag highlights turning point for Alejandro Garnacho at Man Utd

Erik ten Hag has credited emerging Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho for overcoming "some issues" with his attitude, which has led to improved performances on the pitch.
The 19-year-old recently scored a goal of the season contender against Everton at Goodison Park, flying high in the air to arrow home a stunning overhead kick that many consider to be as good as, if not better, than Wayne Rooney's famous strike against Manchester City.
Garnacho grabbed an assist on Wednesday night for Scott McTominay's winner against Chelsea, rewarding Ten Hag for putting faith over him on the left flank ahead of Marcus Rashford.
Speaking of his progress, Ten Hag told the media on Friday: "There were some issues (with his attitude), but young players have to learn what is needed for the lifestyle of a professional footballer.
"Our assessment at the start of the season was that we wanted to bring him in and wanted to give him the time to deliver what he's doing at the moment.
"There's big potential and a lot he can build on, but we are happy with his performances and his contribution. The base, the foundation is always the defending part, but now also attacking-wise he has the key actions - the assists, the goal threat, he scores goals, so that's of course very important for an offensive player."
Ten Hag was critical of Garnacho's commitment and attitude last year, having been late to training on two separate occasions, while captain Bruno Fernandes also spoke at that time about United's desire to see more professionalism from the teenager.
Garnacho was rewarded for his breakthrough season with a new and improved five-year contract in April, and he is now an established member of United's first team squad.
The winger, who joined United's academy from Atletico Madrid in 2020, has already earned three senior international caps for Argentina, with his influence for club and country likely to increase with further exposure to full 90 minute outings rather than cameo appearances from the substitutes' bench.
