Erling Haaland named 2022/23 PFA Players’ Player of the Year
- Haaland wins the award after a record-breaking debut season in England
- Man City striker scored 36 goals in just 35 Premier League outings
- Bukayo Saka and Kevin De Bruyne were among the nominees

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been named the 2022/23 PFA Players' Player of the Year.
Haaland ran riot in his first year in the Premier League, breaking the 38-game season scoring record as he found the back of the net 36 times in just 35 outings.
The Norway international finishes atop a shortlist which also included City teammates Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones, as well as Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard and former Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, who has departed the Premier League for Bayern Munich.
"It’s an honour to win this prestigious award," Haaland told club media. "To be recognised by your competitors is a great feeling and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.
"It was an unforgettable season for the team and for me personally. Winning the Treble was something I never imagined, so to achieve that with such a special group of players was an amazing feeling.
"John, Rodri, Ruben and Kevin all deserve their place in the Team of the Year and I am delighted that their efforts have been rewarded with this recognition too.
"We created some incredible memories last season, but now we want to do the same again this year. We have started the season well and we need to keep going."

Director of football Txiki Begiristain added: "We are so delighted for Erling that he has won this award.
"His goal-scoring record last season was obviously incredible and that alone marks him out as a special player.
"But his influence all over the pitch continues to grow and he has so much drive to keep improving even more and we are convinced he will get even better.
"Erling is a world class player and a great guy to have in the dressing room and we’re very proud of him."
