Normality will resume at the next major tournament with Germany playing host to a summer spectacle of football at Euro 2024.
UEFA opted to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the European Championship by hosting Euro 2020 - which was delayed by a year thanks to Covid-19 - in 11 different countries before FIFA decided to host the Qatari World Cup in the winter.
We've had some quirks in recent years, but we're returning to a traditional one-country summer tournament in 2024.
The aforementioned winter World Cup means it's a slightly shorter turnaround between major tournaments for European nations, and Germany will soon take centre stage as they were announced as Euro 2024 hosts in September 2018.
Qualifying is underway, and the stadiums that will be used at the tournament have been announced. However, there's still plenty to be revealed about the competition's showpiece event. Nevertheless, here's what we know about the Euro 2024 final so far.

When is the Euro 2024 final?
Euro 2024 concludes with the final on Sunday 14 July. That's three days later that the Euro 2020 equivalent, which was played Sunday 11 July 2021.

Where is the Euro 2024 final being held?
Berlin's Olympiastadion will host the final. The stadium boasts a capacity of over 74,000 and has been used for other major sporting events such as the 1936 Olympics and 2006 World Cup final.
The Olympiastadion also hosted the 2011 Women's World Cup final and the 2015 Champions League final between Barcelona and Juventus. It's an amphitheatre with serious pedigree.
When are tickets for the Euro 2024 final released?
The public sale phase for Euro 2024 tickets, including the final, has already come and gone, It ran between 3 and 26 October 2023. However, there are more windows to secure tickets.
Another one million tickets will go on sale to fans of participating teams following the group stage draw on 2 December 2023.
More tickets will be held back for supporters of teams that qualify for the tournament via the play-offs which will conclude in March 2024.
Applicants can apply for a maximum of four tickets per match and only tickets for one match per day. Tickets will be allocated by a fair and transparent lottery.
