Relegation-threatened Bournemouth must win their final game at Everton on Sunday afternoon to have any shot of escaping the drop down to the Championship.

The Cherries currently lie in 19th place and will need to rack up a big win at Goodison Park, while also hoping that both Watford and Aston Villa lose, so that they can overtake both sides on goal difference and ensure themselves a sixth straight season in the Premier League.

As for the hosts, a victory will ensure that they finish just outside the top half for the season, and a strong performance will encourage Carlo Ancelotti as he begins to plan for a top-seven challenge for their next campaign.

Team News

The Toffees will be without several players for their final game. Defenders Yerry Mina (thigh) and Mason Holgate (shin) will both be absent, meaning that young centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite could make another start. Jean-Phillipe Gbamin (calf), Fabian Delph (calf) and Cenk Tosun (torn ACL) are also sidelined and will play no part either.

Moise Kean is a major doubt, having picked up an ankle injury in training - but is expected to be available for selection.

The visitors will also have a number of defenders missing for their trip to Merseyside. Highly sought-after Nathan Aké is questionable to play having picked up a groin issue, and will need a late fitness test to ensure his involvement – as will Adam Smith, who is coming off a recent concussion.

They will also be without the trio of Charlie Daniels, Chris Mepham and Simon Francis, who all are out with knee problems.

Predicted Lineups

Everton: Pickford; Sidibé, Branthwaite, Keane, Digne; Gordon, Gomes, Davies, Sigurðsson; Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin.

Bournemouth: Ramsdale; Stacey, Cook, Kelly, Rico; Brooks, Billing, Lerma, Stanislas; Wilson, King.

Recent Form

Everton have been in mixed form of late - but picked up a gritty 1-0 win at Sheffield United on Monday, and will strive to end their campaign on a positive note with a second successive victory at home.

After his strong display in their win in Yorkshire, Branthwaite is expected to keep his place in Ancelotti's starting eleven, and will need to be at his best against an opponent desperate for goals.

As for the Cherries, they have failed to kick on from their impressive 4-1 demolition job on Leicester City, going on to lose the two games that followed. A 2-0 home defeat against south coast rivals Southampton mean they have it all to do on Sunday, with the likes of Josh King and Callum Wilson required to have a big performance up front.

Here's how both sides have fared in their last five matches.

Everton

Sheffield United 0-1 Everton (20/7)
Everton 1-1 Aston Villa (16/7)
Wolves 3-0 Everton (12/7)
Everton 1-1 Southampton (9/7)
Tottenham 1-0 Everton (6/7)

Bournemouth

Bournemouth 0-2 Southampton (19/7)
Man City 2-1 Bournemouth (15/7)
Bournemouth 4-1 Leicester (12/7)
Bournemouth 0-0 Tottenham (9/7)
Man Utd 5-2 Bournemouth (4/7)

Prediction

The situation is pretty clear for Bournemouth, who need nothing less than a win to have a fighting chance of remaining in the top flight for next season.

Despite their recent two defeats, they'll be confident of their chances against an Everton side who have dropped points at home against Aston Villa and Southampton in their past run of games.

With the hosts having nothing to play for on the final day, Eddie Howe's highly motivated side have a good chance of pulling off a huge away win that would make the final day a very dramatic one indeed.

Prediction: Everton 1-2 Bournemouth
