Fantasy Premier League tips: Gameweek 10
Another bumper weekend of Premier League action means one thing - it's time to sort out your FPL teams and get in them shape for a bag full of points.
If you're a backer of the big boys, you could be in luck - Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City all have favourable fixtures on paper and you'd be hard pressed to find anybody who's not tipping them to pick up all three points.
But there's also a number of other mouthwatering games that could offer up the opportunity for big points hauls, making your decision as manager all the more difficult. To help you through any crisis of confidence you might be having, here's 90min's rundown of the players you should be eyeing up...
1. Ivan Toney (Brentford) - £6.6m
Brentford's very enjoyable start to the season has been all the more remarkable because Ivan Toney is yet to catch fire in front of goal.
Trust us, he will.
Not only is Toney a shrewd acquisition for the trip to Burnley, he then has the pleasure of taking on Norwich and Newcastle. Goals, goals, goals and points, points, points await!
2. Kai Havertz (Chelsea) - £8.1m
No Romelu Lukaku, no Timo Werner and a sold Tammy Abraham = another chance up front for Kai Havertz.
Sure, he missed out on the fun against Norwich last Saturday, but Havertz's Carabao Cup goal in midweek could be just what he needed ahead of a trip to leaky Newcastle.
£8.1m is a decent price, too.
3. Phil Foden (Man City) - £8.2m
There's always an element of risk picking Manchester City players, as we all know how Pep Guardiola loves to rotate.
But can the Spaniard really look Foden in the eye at the moment and say he's on the bench? We don't think (hope) so, and back the £8.2m wonder boy to have another roaring weekend.
4. James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) - £6.3m
Southampton haven't been in great form this season, we grant you that, but overlooking the quality of James Ward-Prowse is a big no no.
Back from suspension, Saints' skipper will be fresh and raring to go - and like Toney he not only has a favourable fixture against Watford this weekend, he then has Aston Villa and Norwich in his crosshairs
Yes, please!
5. Richarlison (Everton) - £7.3m
Everton got spanked last Saturday by struggling Watford at Goodison Park...and that was bad.
But the good news is that Richarlison made a goalscoring cameo off the bench, and he's coming up against Wolves this Monday - a side he's scored five goals against in six previous appearances.
Those kind of things usually mean something so consider the Brazilian when choosing your strike force.
6. Jarrod Bowen (West Ham) - £6.3m
In case you've been absent for the past 12-18 months, West Ham are now a very good footballing side.
One of their better players is winger Jarrod Bowen, who not only represents great value at £6.3m, but is a player coming into form for a Hammers side who continue to defy the odds.
Villa away isn't easy but Dean Smith's side have lost three on the bounce...
7. Josh King (Watford) - £5.6m
Watford's response to getting thumped 5-0 by Liverpool on their own patch was to thump the blue half of Merseyside for five on theirs - got to love Claudio Ranieri, haven't you?
The star of that particular show was Josh King, who now looks a very appetising proposition at £5.6m. He's bound to be central to the Hornets' plans this Saturday, too, as teammate and fellow livewire Emmanuel Dennis is suspended.
8. Alvaro Fernandez (Brentford) - £4.5m
Now you might be sat (or stood) asking yourself...WHO?
Well, poor David Raya is sidelined for approximately five months with a knee injury, meaning Thomas Frank will need to usher in a new number one goalkeeper between the Brentford sticks...
That man will be Alvaro Fernandez and there's every chance he's got a load of clean sheets on the way.
9. Reece James (Chelsea) - £5.6m
Thomas Tuchel is another manager known for rotating, particularly in defence.
That's not great news when it comes to FPL, but James' showing in Chelsea's storming win over Norwich has surely made him undroppable for the trip to St James' Park.
Time will tell but it's probably worth the gamble.
10. Diogo Jota (Liverpool) - £7.5m
Liverpool's destruction of Manchester United owed much to the continued brilliance of Mohamed Salah - undisputedly the best player in the world right now.
But let's not forget the showing of Diogo Jota, who bagged a goal and an assist at the Stretford End to remind Jurgen Klopp of just how good he is. The German has a huge decision to make re: team selection this weekend, but Jota's continued brilliance may be hard to overlook.
