Fantasy Premier League tips: Gameweek 3

Hey there, Fantasy Premier League managers! Guess what?! It's Gameweek 3, and if you're reading this, it means you're flying high in the mini-league, or you're absolutely desperate for the smallest crumb of advice at rock bottom.

Fortunately, 90min have got your back. We know your finger is twitching over the 'Wildcard' option, and you're having nightmares about somehow failing to field 11 players, even though the season is not even a month old - but whatever you do, don't do it.

There is still time to rectify your shocking start to the campaign without going full Southampton and selling all of your good players. What you need are some Hot or Not tips, nudging you in the direction of the players to gamble on this weekend, and the ones to avoid.

So, here are 90min's recommendations ahead of Gameweek 3 of the Premier League stars on the boil, and the ones who should be frozen out.

1. Jamie Vardy (£10.5m)

Last weekend was as bad as it gets for Leicester City, who, as noted by 90min's very own Fox Matt O'Connor-Simpson, played 'like they need a win to qualify for the Champions League' in their 4-1 defeat to West Ham on Monday.

Those performances don't come around too often though, and you'd expect Brendan Rodgers' boys to bounce back in style. The suspended Ayoze Perez won't feature either, which I think is a good thing for the Foxes.

On top of that, Leicester are facing Norwich City, yet to pick up a point and with a Premier League aggregate score of 0-8. These sound like the perfect conditions for Jamie Vardy.

I can see his 'flying like a canary' celebration already.

2. Said Benrahma (£6.3m)

All the talk in east London is revolving around record-breaker Michail Antonio at the moment, but we should all be focusing on the rebirth of Said Benrahma.

The forward has seemingly adapted to David Moyes' style of play, and is thriving in the way many expected when he first made the move from Brentford.

West Ham take on Crystal Palace on home turf on Saturday, and frankly, the Eagles have shown nothing to suggest they can stop the smashing Hammers.

At £6.3m, Benrahma is an absolute steal. Get him before he rockets.

3. Harry Kane (£12.3m)

I would be dreading this game if I were a Watford supporter. Harry Kane has finally committed his future to Tottenham Hotspur, already scored two in midweek and is looking to make up for two weeks of missed action.

People doubting his commitment to Spurs must remember how committed he is to winning Premier League Golden Boots, and he will 100% be out for blood against the Hornets.

This one has a first-half hat-trick written all over it.

4. Raheem Sterling (£11m)

We all know that Pep Roulette is the most difficult aspect of FPL, and Raheem Sterling could be left on the bench against Arsenal. However, the fact he didn't start in the victory over Norwich suggests he could be deployed from the off against the Gunners.

Then, we have to factor in the opposition. Arsenal are absolutely rubbish, and the 2-0 score line in the home defeat to Chelsea genuinely flattered them.

Manchester City will work so many of those openings where they roll the ball across the six-yard box for a tap-in, and Sterling is always in position to finish them off.

5. Wilfried Zaha (£7m)

Unsurprisingly, life under Patrick Vieira has not got off to the smoothest of starts for Crystal Palace. They are yet to score in their first three competitive matches, with their only positive result coming in a 0-0 draw with newly-promoted Brentford.

5.5% of you are sticking with Wilfried Zaha, despite his £7m price tag and the Eagles' fear of sticking that white ball thing in the net. Well, it's time to cut him loose.

Zaha is creative, wins free-kicks and penalties and can score goals, but right now, you just can't bank on Palace scoring, let alone winning. West Ham are heavy favourites on Saturday, so ditch the Ivorian for this week.

6. Raul Jimenez (£7.4m)

Another team that is having extreme difficulty in scoring goals and picking up points is Wolverhampton Wanderers. They dominated Spurs in the 1-0 defeat last weekend, racking up 23 shots, landing six on target.

Alas, they failed to hit the net with any of those efforts, which should come as a great concern to Wolves supporters. They struggled to score without Raul Jimenez last season, and that was expected to change upon his return.

The Mexican is still getting up to speed though, and could do with another couple of weeks until he's fit, firing and scoring the goals we know he can.

7. Lucas Digne (£5.5m)

Lucas Digne was everyone's early favourite at the start of the season, with many predicting his barrage of crosses to rain down on Dominic Calvert-Lewin's head.

Well, two games into the season and he's picked up a grand total of zero goals, zero assists, zero clean sheets and one yellow card. Everton are up against Brighton next, who boast a collection of defensive giants that love heading footballs away from their goal.

Added to that, the Seagulls have enjoyed a brilliant start to the season and will fancy their chances at beating the unpredictable Jordan Pickford. Maybe wait until Rafa Benitez's magic starts rubbing off on his team.

8. John Stones (£5.4m)

Another victim of Pep Roulette is John Stones. The defender has not started either of Man City's opening two matches of the season, and isn't guaranteed to feature against Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola doesn't like resting Ruben Dias, and Aymeric Laporte scored last weekend, which could see him secure his place in the starting lineup.

So, Stones could miss out, despite being such a key figure in the Citizens' backline last year. Of course, he could play the full 90 minutes, but at £5.4m, is it worth the risk?
