FC Dallas have completed the signing of center-back Amet Korça from Croatian side HNK Gorica.
An Arlington, Texas, native, Korça joins on a one-year deal through the 2023 MLS season with Dallas holding options on 2024 and 2025. The 22-year-old spent three-and-a-half seasons in the top two levels of Croatian soccer, making 65 appearances for NK Dubrava and three with HNK Gorica.
“Amet is from Texas and has international experience in the first division in Croatia, which is an incredibly competitive league,” FC Dallas technical director André Zanotta said in a club press release.
“He brings that European experience with him as he returns home to Texas. Amet adds valuable depth to our roster.”
Korça - who spent time with Solar SC in North Texas and Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb during his youth days - is Dallas' second center-back signing of the winter alongside Sebastien Ibeagha, who joined from LAFC via free agency. That follows the departure of club legend Matt Hedges, who switched to Toronto FC.
FC Dallas are looking to make the MLS Cup Playoffs for the second straight season under Nico Estevez after finishing third in the Western Conference in 2022. First up in 2023 is a clash at home with Minnesota United.
