FIFA 22: The top 5* skillers in FUT
By Tom Gott
FIFA 22 have put a new focus on the realism and responsiveness of player movements, giving skill moves the potential to be more devastating than ever.
The brand new HyperMotion technology, used to capture millions of tiny details of real-life actions from the game's best players, makes everything you do in FIFA 22 feel more authentic than ever.
Essentially, 5* skills have never been so dangerous, and you're going to want to get plenty of skillers into your team.
Here are the best players on offer.
20. Martin Odegaard
Silky Arsenal playmaker Martin Odegaard is a whole lot of fun to play with this year.
Capable of skilling his way past any defender on the game, the Norway international then has the passing stats needed to take advantage of his new-found space, and don't sleep on his long shots either.
19. Jesus Corona
With both 5* skills and 5* weak foot, there's not a lot Porto winger Jesus Corona can't do on FIFA 22.
He boasts one of the most well-rounded cards on the game and the fact that he can pull of any skill with either foot makes him the perfect weapon.
18. Wilfried Zaha
Wilfried Zaha has been one of the Premier League's best flair players for years now. Defenders hate coming up against him, and rightly so.
To go along with those elite skills, Zaha brings 89 pace and 87 dribbling, so he can burn a defender in the blink of an eye and be away on goal before your opponent can even process what has happened.
17. Joao Felix
Bumped up from an 81 overall to an 83, Joao Felix retains the 5* skills he has had since his move to Atletico Madrid in FIFA 20.
He's also been handed a tidy increase in his dribbling, jumping up from 83 to 86, so those skills will feel even more devastating this year.
16. Juan Cuadrado
Like Felix, Juan Cuadrado has also been handed a well-deserved boost after being one of the best creators in Italy last season.
Part of what makes Cuadrado so dangerous is his 5* skills, which have been bamboozling defenders across the globe for years now.
15. Ousmane Dembele
One of a rare bunch of players to boast 5* skills and 5* weak foot, Ousmane Dembele is back on the right wing this year and well-equipped to shine for any team.
He comes with 93 pace and 86 dribbling to boot, while his 77 shooting and 77 passing are nothing to sneeze at either.
14. Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Zlatan Ibrahimovic may be 40 years old but his rating is still going up. An 83 last year, the towering Swede is now an 84.
A lot of that rating comes from his 87 shooting and 79 dribbling, and his 5* skills are just an added bonus.
13. Josip Ilicic
Nobody realised Josip Ilicic was growing into one of the world's best playmakers until he was already on top.
The Slovenia international has an absolutely stunning card, the highlights of which are his 86 shooting and dribbling, 84 passing, 5* skills and 4* weak foot.
12. Hakim Ziyech
Given his nickname is The Wizard, it should come as no surprise that Hakim Ziyech can master even the toughest of skill moves in FIFA 22.
Use those abilities to beat a defender, and once you find yourself in space, take advantage of Ziyech's 87 passing to get yourself through on goal in a flash.
11. Roberto Firmino
He ships as a centre-forward, but you'd be better of using Roberto Firmino as a CAM to make the most of his impressive creativity.
With 89 dribbling, the Liverpool man is one of the best dribblers available for Premier League squads, and his 5* skills are just the cherry on top.
10. Memphis Depay
Now strutting his stuff for Barcelona, Memphis Depay has retained his 85 overall from last year and the 5* skills he has been blessed with since FIFA 19.
With a slight boost to his dribbling stats, Memphis' skills should feel smoother than ever before.
9. Marcus Rashford
There's a good reason Marcus Rashford is one of the most popular FIFA cards. The Manchester United man brings absolutely everything you could want from a forward.
He boasts electric pace, fantastic shooting, impressive physicality and the all-important 5* skills, so regardless of how you like to play the game, there's a way to make the most of Rashford.
8. Thiago
A well-known pillar of the 5* community, this is the sixth straight year in which Spain midfielder Thiago has had full marks for skills.
He's also had 90 dribbling for five years on the bounce, so experienced players will already know all about how to get the best out of Thiago.
7. Riyad Mahrez
As one of the most devastating dribblers in the Premier League, Riyad Mahrez has been a popular feature in Ultimate Team squads for a good few years now.
He retains the 90 dribbling which put him on the map and keeps his beloved combination of 5* skills and 4* weak foot.
6. Paul Pogba
With 86 dribbling, Pogba's on-ball ability is higher than it has ever been in the past five years, so his 5* skills are going to feel so much sweeter.
Pogba has the kind of agility most midfielders his size can only dream of, so if you can master his skills, you'll be playing with one of the most unique weapons in the game.
5. Jadon Sancho
Keeping up the Manchester United connection is winger Jadon Sancho, who has been playing with 5* skills ever since his introduction to Ultimate Team in FIFA 19.
His 91 dribbling is perfect to make the most of those skills, and if you're lucky enough to get your hands on his Ones to Watch card, you might even see a boost in those stats too.
4. Angel Di Maria
Few players on the planet have been more creative with the ball at their feet than Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria.
Cutting in from the right wing, the Argentine has all the stats needed to be a real menace, with 87 dribbling and 86 passing the two standout attributes on his card.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo
Completing the United attack is a player we all knew was going to feature towards the top of this list, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portugal international has made a habit out of doing impossible things with the ball at his feet, and while he's not as reliant on flair moves as he used to be, that doesn't mean he's not capable of whipping them out when needed.
2. Neymar
Neymar would probably have 6* skill moves if that was an option.
The 91-rated winger has terrifying stats for dribbling, pace and passing, and his combination of skills and 5* weak foot make him a dangerous asset from anywhere on the pitch. It's impossible to predict what he can do because he's capable of pulling anything out of the bag.
1. Kylian Mbappe
If you weren't already excited to play as PSG this year, the fact that they feature three of the top four skillers in the game (on top of a certain Lionel Messi) should be your final nudge of encouragement.
Leading the way is Kylian Mbappe, who is not only the highest-rated 5* skiller, but also the fastest player on the entire game. He's a walking cheat code.
