Four MLS teams advance to U.S. Open Cup semifinals

Four Major League Soccer sides advanced to the semifinals of the2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Real Salt Lake, FC Cincinnati, Houston Dynamo and Inter Miami all passed the quarterfinal hurdle in the domestic tournament earlier this week.

Inter Miami and FC Cincinnati ousted United Soccer League outfits to advance. Miami narrowly defeated Birmingham Legion 1-0, while FC Cincinnati cruised past Pittsburgh Riverhounds 3-1.

On the opposite side of the bracket, Houston Dynamo and Real Salt Lake battled away against fellow MLS opposition. Real Salt Lake held on at home against the struggling LA Galaxy after goin 3-0 up and conceding two past the 80th minute mark.

Houston impressed on the road at Chicago Fire, winning 4-1. A brace from Ibrahim Aliyu helped seal the Dynamo's place in the next round of the competition.

Houston will host Real Salt Lake on August 23rd in an afternoon matchup, while Cincinnati will welcome Miami in an evening game. The final is scheduled to take place on September 27th.
