A couple of differentials elsewhere in the squad can help put managers ahead of the pack at this early stage of the campaign, so who are the best picks?
We've picked out the top selections in conjunction with Fantasy Football Hub's powerful AI Points Predictions tool to show their predicted points for FPL Gameweek 1.
Solly March vs Luton Town (H) | Predicted Points: 5.1
Kaoru Mitoma has drawn much of the transfer traffic from Brighton's attack ahead of FPL Gameweek 1, while fellow winger Solly March is flying under the radar in fewer than 3% of all sides. He was the consistent performer for the Seagulls last season with six goals and ten assists, rarely missing a minute of Premier League action.
Brighton have been very active in the transfer market, strengthening their attack ahead of regular midweek European action which will mean rotation for many of their front line players. However, March should feature in more minutes than most of his teammates.
Eberechi Eze vs Sheffield United (A) | Predicted Points: 4.8
The £6.5m midfielder bracket is stacked with Mitoma and Bryan Mbeumo among the front-runners, but don't forget about Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze either. He chalked up eight attacking returns in the final ten gameweeks of last season and is a clear favourite under Roy Hodgson.
Eze also converted from the penalty spot during that period and will now be first choice with Wilfried Zaha no longer at the club, as well as taking a significant number of corners and free kicks. The recent injury to Michael Olise has only strengthened Eze's involvement in dead-ball duties.
James Maddison vs Brentford (A) | Predicted Points: 4.6
Tottenham still hope Harry Kane will be at the club by the time they kick off their new campaign away at Brentford on Sunday. It's difficult to get the star striker into our squads right now, but going with new signing James Maddison could be a fruitful route into the Spurs attack.
Under a new all-out attack style of play under new manager Ange Postecoglou, Maddison's link-up play with Kane delivered plenty of winning combinations during pre-season. Maddison has huge potential if he can stay fit, having chalked up 19 attacking returns last campaign, and should be Tottenham's set-piece specialist.
