The Fantasy Premier League captaincy decision is a difficult one this week with a distinct lack of options.

Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-min, the top two performers in the game, are away on international duty, while usual favourite Erling Haaland is still flagged with a foot injury.

So who are the top picks for the round of games during the winter break? With the help of Fantasy Football Hub's powerful AI Points Predictions tool, here are the best players to hand the armband to in FPL Gameweek 21.

Bukayo Saka

  • Fixture: Crystal Palace (H); Predicted Points: 6.2

Bukayo Saka has to be the key captaincy contender as the only fully fit and available premium player. He has produced one goal in the last four gameweeks from some solid underlying numbers, with 18 shots and four big chances. Opponents Crystal Palace have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their last nine Premier League games.

Saka's fixture does come on the second weekend of this lengthy gameweek which is slightly concerning, but he should be well rested having not played since the Gunners' FA Cup exit to Liverpool.

Cole Palmer

  • Fixture: Fulham (H); Predicted Points: 5.7

Chelsea's Cole Palmer is justifiably the most purchased player for this round of games, bagging a league-high five attacking returns in the last four gameweeks - this is even more impressive since he only played in three of those fixtures after serving a one-match ban.

Palmer has plenty of routes to points due to his involvement in set pieces, having converted four penalties already this season. He grabbed an assist on his full debut in the reverse of this fixture, which finished 2-0.

Ollie Watkins

  • Fixture: Everton (A); Predicted Points: 4.8

Of the players available for this round of games, Ollie Watkins is the top performer in terms of FPL points with nine goals and 11 assists so far this campaign. He is a proven all-rounder and Aston Villa can be relied upon to deliver in any given fixture.

Watkins has the recent form too, with three attacking returns in his last four games. The reverse of this fixture finished 4-0, with the England international having a hand in one of the goals. Everton have been solid at home this season, but have conceded eight goals in their last three games.
