The tough captaincy decisions continue into FPL Double Gameweek 27, with numerous options with two fixtures plus some really attractive fixtures for the single gameweek alternatives.
So, who should get the armband?
Ivan Toney vs Everton (A) & Southampton (A)
Ivan Toney leads the way among the double gameweek options with only Erling Haaland and Harry Kane scoring more Premier League goals this season. His suspension threat shouldn’t come to a head until April.
As the highest owned player from the sides with two fixtures, Toney looks set to be the go-to captain pick. He ranks fourth for bonus points this season and is on penalties too to further bolster his points tally. I’m planning to put the captain’s armband on him.
Any Brighton midfielder vs Leeds (A) & Crystal Palace (H)
If you own a Brighton midfielder then they are also a credible captain pick this week, particularly Alexis Mac Allister, Solly March and Kaoru Mitoma.
We’ve seen this trio share attacking returns and points in recent weeks, splitting our FPL ownership. Each one is set to be a captaincy differential, but Mac Allister is my favoured option as he's on penalties.
Marcus Rashford vs Southampton (H)
Marcus Rashford has scored in seven consecutive Premier League games and so should be in the captain conversation, with a double points haul on four of those occasions.
He’s scored more FPL points than any other player since the restart and Manchester United need to bounce back following their defeat to Liverpool.
Erling Haaland vs Crystal Palace (A)
Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick in the reverse fixture against Crystal Palace in Gameweek 4, chalking up a 17 point haul.
We could see a repeat performance for the trip to Selhurst Park; Haaland has scored in his last two away games and should be on penalties with Riyad Mahrez dropped for recent games.
Harry Kane vs Nottingham Forest (H)
It’s been a difficult period for Spurs, but Harry Kane has remained a constant with 18 goals so far this season. Two of those returns came in the reverse fixture against Nottingham Forest where he also missed a penalty.
Kane has an attacking return in each of his last three home games.
Mohamed Salah vs Bournemouth (A)
Salah is back in form, with four goals and three assists in his last five games, including a huge 21 points last time out against Manchester United.
He has the pedigree in this fixture, with eight goals and one assist in seven appearances, with the famous 9-0 reverse fixture his only blank from a start against the Cherries. He’s on spot kicks too.
