Gameweek 28 provides a rare opportunity to go rogue with captaincy, especially with traditional captain favourite Erling Haaland without a fixture this weekend due to a clash with the FA Cup quarter finals.
So who are the best candidates?
Harry Kane vs Southampton (A)
Harry Kane leads the captaincy race, especially as he is off the back of a brace last weekend which took him up to five double digit returns this campaign. Kane now sits on 20 goals for the season and remains on track for his best ever return in an FPL season.
Kane has an excellent record against his opponents Southampton, with 11 goals and six assists in 14 starts in the Premier League. He’s also on penalties, converting from the spot on four occasions in this campaign. Spurs haven’t had a fixture this midweek.

Bukayo Saka vs Crystal Palace (H)
Bukayo Saka is another key contender in the captaincy conundrum, with Arsenal a team in form. They've scored 15 goals over the last four gameweeks, with two goals and one assist for Saka in that time. He got an assist in the reverse fixture against Crystal Palace.
The underlying numbers are also excellent for Saka, ranked second for shots over this spell with 15. Being on penalties makes him the most secure captain pick from Arsenal and he tends to be immune from early substitutions or rotation in the Premier League.
Ivan Toney vs Leicester (H)
Ivan Toney delivered as the captain favourite in Double Gameweek 27 and could be worth considering this weekend too. He’s ranked fourth among all regulars for points per match this season, with only Haaland and Kane scoring more goals this season.
Toney is also on spot-kicks. The reverse fixture with Leicester finished 2-2, with Toney getting himself on the scoresheet. Toney has registered an attacking return in six games since the FPL restart, taking bonus points in five of those games, with four of those being the maximum three points.
