FPL Gameweek 31 is nearly upon us and we're all still dreaming of the dizzying heights achieved during DGW29.

GW30 brought most managers back down to earth with an average score of 54 across the Fantasy Premier League community, but the weekend offers more opportunities for bosses to scoop points during the run-in.

Here are 90min's top picks in defence this weekend.

Marc Guehi (£4.4m)

Crystal Palace recorded the biggest win of GW30 by smashing Leeds 5-1 at Elland Road, having gone a goal down early on.

Marc Guehi netted the Eagles' equaliser just after half time before they rattled in another four unanswered goals. A favourable run of fixtures which seems Palace face bottom half teams in all but two of their last eight games.

Pedro Porro (£4.8m)

Tottenham's wing backs have not done well as a collective this season, but January arrival Pedro Porro is beginning to pose a threat in attack.

Emerson Royal's absence makes the Spain international an automatic pick on the right and he should get a chance or two to get FPL points against struggling Bournemouth on Saturday.

Nathan Ake (£5.1m)

Nathan Ake has fitted into Pep Guardiola's new system extremely comfortably, charging up and down the flank at left back for Manchester City.

The Dutchman doesn't offer the attacking threat Joao Cancelo did once at the Etihad, but he's still a cheap route into the champions' defence with some promising fitures on the horizon, starting on Saturday against Leicester.

He is game-less for GW32, so line up an alternative starting XI pick in your squad.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.3m)

Are Liverpool washed? Is Trent Alexander-Arnold washed? Unfortunately, we just don't have the capacity to answer those unanswerable questions, but the England international did rediscover some attacking flair in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal, setting up Roberto Firmino's equaliser.

The Reds face relegation contenders Leeds, Nottingham Forest and West Ham in their next three games, so there's potential for points at both ends for Alexander-Arnold.

When is the FPL Gameweek 31 deadline?

With the first game of the Premier League weekend being Aston Villa's fixture with Newcastle at Villa Park on Saturday at 12:30 BST, the FPL deadline is set at 11:00 before the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City are in action.
