With go-to captain pick Erling Haaland off the table given Manchester City’s blank caused by the FA Cup, we have the opportunity to back a captaincy differential again this week.

So who are the best options?

Mohamed Salah vs Nottingham Forest (H)

Mohamed Salah is leading the way in the popularity stakes when it comes to our Gameweek 32 captaincy and justifiably so. He has the form, with four goals in his last four Premier League games, and since the international break he leads the way for shots in the box (15), converting from five big chances.

Salah has missed two penalties in recent games so his status on spot-kicks is now unclear. His opponents Nottingham Forest have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last ten games, conceding more than two goals per game on average.

Their defence looks particularly fragile on their left flank, the area which Salah will dominate.

Gabriel Martinelli vs Southampton (H)

Gabriel Martinelli ranks among the top players in terms of form in recent games, with ten attacking returns in his last nine Premier League games.

He’s become a mainstay of Arsenal’s attack once again, regularly playing 90 minutes. Top against bottom in the Friday night fixture could be an interesting battle to back with the armband - just don’t miss the early deadline.

Bukayo Saka vs Southampton (H)

While Martinelli is the form pick from Arsenal’s midfield, Bukayo Saka offers the most on paper given his heavy involvement in set pieces, including penalties.

Despite missing a spot-kick against West Ham last time out, he’s expected to retain his place in the pecking order. He’s another great captaincy differential.

Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Nottingham Forest (H)

It’s been a tricky season for Trent Alexander-Arnold after being heavily backed in FPL for Gameweek 1, but we may have reached the point where he’s now essential in his new midfield role.

During this period of games, he leads the way for big chances created with three, with a good chance of adding attacking returns to a clean sheet. Visitors Nottingham Forest haven’t scored in their last two league games, so giving the Liverpool defender the armband could be a differential risk worth taking.
