FPL Gameweek 8 kick-starts favourable runs of fixtures for Aston Villa, Liverpool and Tottenham. All three teams have proven attacking quality and their assets could bring in huge points over the upcoming weekend and beyond.
With any purchases this week set for good medium-term holds, who should we be buying? Here are the top FPL assets to target this week, picked in conjunction with Fantasy Football Hub's powerful AI Points Predictions tool.
Ollie Watkins
- Fixture: Wolves (A); Predicted points: 4.9
Ollie Watkins is the most transferred-in player for Gameweek 8 after his monster 23-point haul against Brighton last time out, being involved in five of Villa's six goals. That comes after a solid start to the season where he chalked up one goal and four assists in the first six games.
Villa face a particularly kind run over the next five gameweeks, with trips to Wolves and Nottingham Forest, plus West Ham, Luton and Fulham visiting Villa Park. Watkins is a formidable force while on a scoring streak and now is the perfect time to invest.
Darwin Nunez
- Fixture: Brighton (A); Predicted points: 4.1
Freeing up cash to sign star Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah might not be possible, so some alternative targets are needed. Given the injury to Cody Gakpo and suspension of Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez could get an extended run in the side.
The Uruguayan has already chalked up three goals and two assists from limited game-time, seeing just 219 minutes. He sits second for big chances on goal this season with eight and is bound to get opportunities in this favourable run of games over the next five gameweeks.
James Maddison
- Fixture: Luton (A); Predicted points: 5.5
With the fixtures turning for Tottenham, it's perfectly viable to double up on their attackers over the next five gameweeks, with James Maddison accompanying Son Heung-min. Maddison already has six goal involvements this season, all of which have come on the road.
It's Luton away next which provides Maddison with more opportunities to be involved in Spurs goals. He's ranked second for key passes this season with 21 and has had the same number of shots on goal. He dominates all set pieces for Spurs, having taken 35 corners.
