During the only international break before the World Cup, FPL managers have been busy hitting the wildcard button for the first time.

Time is running out to use the chip, with Gameweek 13 and a Gameweek 16 free hit being the other logical alternatives to shake things up.

Ahead of Gameweek 9, here are the top picks for any bosses looking to switch things up by playing their wildcard.

FPL Gameweek 9: Best Wildcard Team (3-4-3)

GKP: Vincent Guaita - The Crystal Palace shot-stopper sees the fixture list turn in his favour after this weekend, with his first clean sheet of the season coming last time out at Newcastle.

DEF: Joao Cancelo - An attacking defender playing for the best defence in the Premier League. Cancelo has six fantasy returns from the opening seven gameweeks.

DEF: Reece James - Set for a consistent attacking wing-back role under new manager Potter, James is expected to improve on the tally of 14 attacking returns he set last season.

DEF: Kieran Trippier - A defender with plenty of attacking threat and dominated set piece duties. He’s already scored three direct free-kicks this calendar year for Newcastle.
