Frank Lampard faces questions on Chelsea's interest in Mauricio Pochettino

Chelsea caretaker manager Frank Lampard was asked about the club's interest in hiring Mauricio Pochettino at a press conference on Tuesday.

The Blues are on the hunt for a new permanent boss after parting ways with Graham Potter earlier this month.

90min understands that ex-Tottenham manager Pochettino is closing in on the job at Stamford Bridge.

Ahead of Wednesday's meeting with west London neighbours Brentford, Lampard was asked about the club's links to the Argentine.

"I'm not going to get involved in any future manager talk," Lampard insisted. "It's all speculation at this stage, simple as that."

Lampard was then asked if he expected to remain in charge of Chelsea for the rest of the season having lost all four of his games so far.

"I won't expect anything in football, but I think it's very clear we've come into this club when it's in big difficulties," he replied.

"We had one day to prepare for Wolves, two games against Real Madrid - the second performance was much better and a proper team performance like I want to see - and a game in between that against Brighton where we had to change a lot of the squad.

"So there are a lot of factors as to the four games we've had since we've been working here.

"And as I've said, the team and the club have been struggling for a while. We've come in with a view to help, we'll keep working to help in a short time, the world won't change in a short time but we'll keep doing our maximum."
