The agent of Giorgio Chiellini has revealed he's yet to hear from Juventus with regards to a new contract and confirmed the veteran defender has no plans to retire.

Chiellini was one of the stars of Italy's triumphant Euro 2020 squad this summer, though with his deal at Juve now expired he's currently a free agent.

The defender's agent Davide Lippi has confirmed he was told the Old Lady would be in contact to discuss a new deal for his client after the European Championship, but as of yet he's not been contacted by the club.

“It takes two to sign a contract,” he told Radio Radio (via Football Italia). “Giorgio went to the Euros and focused exclusively on that. There’s no problem with Juventus, we said we’d meet up later in the summer, but we haven’t yet sat down to discuss a renewal.”

Lippi was asked what Chiellini would do if a big European club made him an offer in the coming weeks, yet he refused to speculate on the topic.

“They’d have to make the offer first," he said. "As of today, there is nobody. We are waiting for Juventus to tell us when we can sit down and have a chat.”

Chiellini picked up what looked to be a nasty injury in Italy's second group game against Switzerland but recovered in time to lead his country to European glory.

His agent was asked whether there was a chance the 36-year-old may hang up his boots following his success at Euro 2020, but he confirmed he has absolutely no plans to retire.

“Thinking of Chiellini away from the playing field at this moment is madness," he added. "What he did after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament is incredible. What fuels him is passion and we saw in the Euros that the passion is still strong.

“He was a symbol of Juventus for many years and we are waiting for a club. Nobody has called, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did, as he’s the only free agent in the Italy squad now.”
