Graham Potter admits 'talk is cheap' after Chelsea end barren run

Chelsea head coach Graham Potter has admitted that while it was a relief to beat Leeds United on Saturday, his side can't rest on their laurels and must now embark on a good run of form.

The Blues had won just one of their 11 games heading into this weekend's meeting with Leeds at Stamford Bridge, and had scored just six goals in all competitions since Bonfire Night - the lowest tally of any professional club in England in that time.

A second-half header from Wesley Fofana, who has spent much of his debut season at Chelsea injured, secured a 1-0 win and three valuable points for Potter and his men.

When asked post-match if this was a sign that he has not lost the dressing room, Potter wanted to focus attention on results.

"It needs to manifest itself in wins. Talk is cheap," he replied.

"The results haven't been good enough and that is my responsibility. We have to try to improve and win. That's the job."

Potter added: "We're delighted with the win, that's for sure. We've had a tough period. I'm delighted for the players and supporters because we've had to suffer.

"We started well, created some opportunities, but playing against Leeds is tough because they have high intensity. We got the goal and then in the second half we had something to lose, which is understandable given the run we've had."

Potter's Chelsea next welcome Borussia Dortmund to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit in their Champions League last 16 tie.
