Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has admitted there is "no hiding" from the fact that the German giants have hit a bump in the road but has called on the squad to fight their way past it.

Bayern fell to a surprise 1-0 defeat away to Lazio in the Champions League on Wednesday night, failing to muster a single shot on target despite 17 attempts at goal. That came only days after a comprehensive 3-0 loss against Bundesliga title rivals Bayer Leverkusen.

For a club of Bayern's stature, it has been a disastrous week.

"In the first half we started well, we had some clear chances: one myself. In these games, they're big moments. But the second half was disappointing. We came out with less energy, less confidence, too many balls given away,” Kane told TNT Sports as he reflected on the Lazio performance.

"Ultimately we got punished. Once you go down to ten men it's always difficult to get back into the game," he added, referencing Dayot Upamecano's costly red card.

"For us we have to find it amongst ourselves; we have to find more energy, more confidence. We're still in the race for the Bundesliga, we're still in the race for this tie. We have to keep fighting and look forward and hopefully turn this momentum around.

"We're in a difficult spell, there's no hiding that, but we have to fight and turn it around. We have big games, we have big things to fight for, we're not out of it, we'll never give up. One game or one spark can change a lot in football, and we just need to find that."

Bayern will have to wait until 5 March for the last 16 return leg against Lazio. Before then, focus returns to closing the five-point deficit on Bundesliga leaders Leverkusen. Thomas Tuchel's side are away to lower mid-table Bochum on Sunday, before the tricky visit of RB Leipzig six days later.

Kane is desperately seeking the first trophy of his career, part of the motivation for leaving Tottenham Hotspur to join Bayern last summer. But despite individual success with 28 goals in 29 games across all competitions, there are no guarantees silverware will come this season. Bayern lost the DFL Supercup against Leipzig back in August and are already out of the DFB Pokal.
