HB Koge 1-5 Arsenal Women: Player ratings as Gunners romp to Champions League win

Arsenal secured their second Women's Champions League win of the season, easing to a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Danish champions HB Koge.

The Gunners enjoyed total dominance in the first half, registering 72% possession and preventing their hosts from registering a single attempt on goal.

The fact they only went into the break 1-0 up was down to a combination of poor finishing and heroics from Koge goalkeeper Kaylan Marckese, who made four saves in the opening 45 minutes alone.

By the time Nikita Parris was brought down in the box with 16 minutes played, Arsenal had already tested Marckese several times. And she prevented them from scoring again, saving Parris' resulting penalty to keep the scores level.

Eventually, she was beaten, but it took an incredible free kick from Steph Catley to do it. The Australian's left-footed effort was perfectly placed and clipped the bar on its way in.

Before the break Leah Williamson went close to doubling her side's advantage, but her fierce effort was again saved by the imperious Koge keeper.

It was a similar story in the second half with Parris eventually making up for her penalty miss by reacting quickest in the box to make it 2-0 just after the hour mark.

Soon after it was three. Jordan Nobbs fired an effort from distance and it hammered off the bar, sitting up nicely for Caitlin Foord to head past the goalkeeper.

However, Koge hit back straight away when a comedy of Arsenal defensive errors allowed Madalyn Ann Pokorny to burst through and slot the ball past Lydia Williams.

After this brief blip Arsenal regained control and they restored their three-goal advantage five minutes from time when substitute Anna Patten finished off a fine team move at the back post. A fifth came courtesy of Nobbs who lashed home Beth Mead's cutback in the 89th minute.

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Lydia Williams (GK) - 5/10 - A quiet night. Like, reaaaallllllllyyyyyy quiet. Will not be happy with her defence, who cost her a clean sheet.

Noelle Maritz (RB) - 6/10 - Chipped in with a few important interventions in the first half.

Leah Williamson (CB) - 7/10 - A mostly impressive display. Her ability to build attacks from the back is invaluable. Also unlucky not to score. However, her culpability in the Koge goal cannot be ignored.

Simone Boye Sorensen (CB) - 5/10 - Misjudged a few headers. The first one could have proved disastrous... the second one did.

Steph Catley (LB) - 7/10 - Her free kick was a thing of beauty. Bombed forward all evening too. Horrific error led to Koge's goal, unfortunately.

2. Midfielders

Frida Maanum (CM) - 6/10 - The quietest of Arsenal's midfield three. Did not do anything too bad and created Parris' goal with her terrible shot.

Lia Walti (CM) - 7/10 - The pass-master. She kept her side ticking over all night, helping them dominate proceedings without having to move through the gears.

Jordan Nobbs (CM) - 8/10 - Created the third goal with a fierce effort. Full of energy and surging runs throughout. Deserved a goal of her own to cap off her fine display.

3. Forwards

Nikita Parris (RW) - 7/10 - Made up for her penalty miss in the second half. Never gave up in the final third.

Vivianne Miedema (ST) - 6/10 - Her runs and link-up play were top class all night. She will be gutted with how many chances she missed, though.

Caitlin Foord (LW) - 8/10 - Kept her cool to nod home Arsenal's third goal and excellent work to create the fourth. An all-round solid display.

4. Substitutes

Kim Little (CM) - 6/10 - Showed her class in a brief cameo.

Beth Mead (RW) - 7/10 - Involved throughout after coming on. Got another assist too.

Katie McCabe (LB) - 6/10 - Caused problems.

Anna Patten (RB) - 7/10 - Came on and scored. You can't ask for much more.
