How much does a World Cup final ticket cost?
By Max Parsons
So, this is it; the whole world will be watching as France and Argentina battle it out for the right to call themselves world champions for a third time.
France reached their second successive World Cup final having topped their group, despite a scare by Tunisia, before beating Poland and England and then overcoming the tremendous challenge of history-makers Morocco. Meanwhile, Argentina can look forward to their second appearance in a World Cup final in three editions having just about topped their own group and beaten Australia, the Netherlands and Croatia during the knockout phase.
With two international titans meeting in the showpiece event, we can expect a TV audience of around 1.5 billion people with near-89,000 lucky souls witnessing the action in the flesh. But what would they have paid to be there?

What's the normal price of a ticket for a World Cup match?
Well, it all depends on the stage of the competition.
According to the FIFA website, the base price of a ticket for group-stage matches was around £55 apart from the opening match, for which you'd have to pay at least around £250 to attend; meanwhile, premium tickets for a normal group game would set you back £180 or a whopping £500 for the curtain-raiser between Qatar and Ecuador.
You'd have to pay a minimum of about £80 to watch a round-of-16 fixture with premium tickets costing about £225; quarter-final clashes would set you back anywhere between £170 and £350 depending on your choice of seat; and semi-final bouts would have hit your bank account hard with the cheapest tickets costing around £290 and the most expensive setting you back about £780.
The third-place play-off, meanwhile, came in a little cheaper to attend, with the price of tickets set at the same rate as the quarter-final clashes.
If you're flush - or brave - enough to purchase a ticket for the World Cup final, however, you'd be charged a fair bit more than any of the above prices.
How much does a World Cup final ticket cost?
Category Three tickets, as FIFA name them (the cheapest tickets available to non-Qatari residents), for the World Cup final at the Lusail Stadium would set you back around an eye-watering £500.
Meanwhile, Category One tickets (if it's even worth thinking about) would cost you somewhere near a silly £1,300.
There's no doubt that watching a World Cup final live, feeling every emotion and experiencing every peak and trough in the moment, is a bucket-list item for any football fan around the globe. However, when France and Argentina take to the field this Sunday, I know where I'll be watching it!
