How to watch the World Cup in the UK today

The World Cup action continues on Wednesday as a few European heavyweights make their first appearances in the tournament.

2018 finalists Croatia are in action first up, taking on recent AFCON quarter-finalists Morocco, while Germany and Spain face Japan and Costa Rica respectively as Group E gets up and running.

Group F closes out Wednesday's fixture list, with Belgium's fading golden generation up against a young and vibrant Canada outfit.

Here's how you can follow the action in the United Kingdom.

Morocco vs Croatia - Group F

2018 finalists Croatia's squad looks a little different than it did four years ago, with a number of ageing stars phased out in favour of new blood. Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric remains, however, as do fellow stalwarts Ivan Perisic, Marcelo Brozovic and Mateo Kovacic.

Morocco have plenty of stars in their own right. Achraf Hakimi is a massive threat on the right, while Hakim Ziyech will hope to produce to type of form he displayed at Ajax before his move to Chelsea.

Germany vs Japan - Group E

Germany come into this World Cup looking to make amends for a horrible 2018 campaign, when they failed to defend their crown and were knocked out at the group stage.

They boast a strong starting XI, especially in midfield with the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Jamal Musiala and Thomas Muller, but here face a Japan side capable of springing an upset.

Captained by former Southampton defender Maya Yoshida, the Samurai Blue attacking talent like Takumi Minamino and Daichi Kamada, while Takehiro Tomiyasu will star in defence.

Spain vs Costa Rica - Group E

Spain are looking to re-emerge as an international force this winter, having struggled to make an impact at any tournament since their run of a World Cup and two Euros in the space of four years.

Barcelona starlets Pedri and Gavi will hope to impress on the world stage, though their first appearance of the tournament sees La Roja take on 2014 surprise package Costa Rica. They have four cap centurions in their squad - Celso Borges, Bryan Ruiz, Joel Campbell and Keylor Navas - and have lost just once in 2022.

Belgium vs Canada - Group F

The final game of the day sees the fading force of Belgium take on Canada, who are appearing at the World Cup for the first time since 2018.

The Red Devils will have to make do without striker Romelu Lukaku here. The Inter forward has struggled for fitness so far this season and Michy Batshuayi is expected to lead the line in his absence.

Canada endured a mammoth qualifying process to reach Qatar, though their preparations for the tournament have been rocked by an injury to star player Alphonso Davies.
