How to watch the World Cup in the UK today

Following Sunday's action-packed curtain-raiser between Qatar and Ecuador - well, the first half anyway - the 2022 World Cup clicks fully into gear on Monday with three games scheduled.

England are among the favourites for the tournament and get underway in the day's early kick off against Iran, while we'll see Senegal vs, Netherlands and USA vs. Wales later on.

Here's how to follow the action in the United Kingdom.

England vs Iran - Group B

England are looking to improve on a fourth-place finish at the 2018 World Cup and silver medals at Euro 2020 this time around and get their campaign underway against Iran in Monday's first game.

There are many off-field topics driving conversation ahead of the match, including England's decision not to wear the One Love captain's armband and the protests in Iran in response to the death of Mahsa Amini, who died in a police station after being arrested for allegedly violating the nation's rules requiring women to cover their hair with a hijab or headscarf.

When the football kicks off, a tight game is expected, but one that England should win to make a positive start to life in Group B.

Senegal vs Netherlands - Group A

After England's opener, the second game in Group A will take place between AFCON champions Senegal and Louis van Gaal's Netherlands.

Aliou Cisse was dealt a mighty blow when it was revealed talisman Sadio Mane would miss the entirety of the World Cup with a knee problem. Krepin Diatta and Bamba Dieng are among the options to replace the Bayern Munich forward in attack.

The Dutch will have to make do without Memphis Depay are their return to the world stage, having missed the 2018 tournament in Russia. However, they have a strong spine in defence and are favourites to win Group A.

USA vs Wales - Group B

Rounding off Monday's action is the second game in Group B between the United States and Wales, another two sides eyeing up qualifying spots in what could be an extremely tight slate of games.

The USMNT will be looking to talents like Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson as they aim for a first quarter-final appearance since 2002, back when Brian McBride and Landon Donovan were running wild.

They will be wise not to underestimate the Welsh, however. While it's only their second World Cup ever, the Dragons have a track record of rising to the big occasion and with Gareth Bale leading the line up front, you'd be bold to bet against Rob Page's determined outfit here.
