Inter Miami coach Phil Neville snaps following derby defeat
By Alex Windley
Phil Nevillle is struggling at the helm of Inter Miami, after losing 3-1 to rivals Orlando City, dropping the South Florida-based team to 12th in the Eastern Conference.
The Herons looked to get back to winning ways after their 2-1 defeat Nashville SC just days earlier, but simply cannot find their footing. The game against Orlando saw a similar weekend Miami side, as goals from Orlando City's Ercan Kara, Martin Ojeda, and Rafael Santos sealed all three points for the Lions.
Although there were numerous goals on the field, the most memorable moment of the game happened after the referee blew the final whistle. During the post match conference, Neville lashed out and looked visibly frustrated following a question from a local Miami beat reporter.
"Can I finish speaking? Or are you going to interupt?" Neville continued, frustratingly asking the reporter if he'd left him finish speaking. "Can I finish speaking? Okay, because I don't interrupt your question, so don't interrupt mine. Show some f------ respect."
Inter Miami has been in a tough spot as of late, losing eight of their thirteen games played.
Although the team started the season strong with victories over CF Montreal and the Philadelphia Union at home, their success has waned as they have only managed to win three of their matches since the beginning of the season, not including their US Open Cup victory over Miami FC.
This inconsistent form has led many to believe that the Miami coach is on the hot seat.
Miami will continue its MLS campaign this weekend as they fly to Canada to take on CF Montreal on May 27th.
