Inter Miami predicted lineup vs CF Montreal - MLS
- Miami are coming off a 6-2 thrashing of New York Red Bulls
- Tomas Aviles misses the Montreal clash due to yellow card accumulation
- Benjamin Cremaschi and Matias Rojas could be handed their first starts of the season vs the Canadian outfit
Inter Miami travel up north to take on Canadian outfit CF Montreal Saturday night, looking to win their fifth straight Major League Soccer match.
The Herons have been on a tear ever since their CONCACAF Champions Cup exit to Liga MX giants CF Monterrey with wins against Sporting Kansas City, Nashville SC, New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls.
In each of the four previous wins, Miami have gone behind early on but still managed to come back and collect all three points -- which will aid them tremendously when the legendary Lionel Messi departs for Copa America this summer.
Miami head coach Gerardo 'Tata' Martino won't look to make too many changes since his preferred 4-3-3 setup has been working well, but he will be forced into at least one change from the team that dismanted Red Bulls last week.
Center-back Tomas Aviles will miss the contest due to yellow card accumulation which allows Serhiy Kryvtsov to make his long-awaited return to action. After an average showing from Julian Gressel against New York, Benjamin Cremaschi could get his first start of 2024 in the middle of the park.
Matias Rojas came off the bench and bagged two quick goals, meaning he'll definitely be in contention to start over Robert Taylor on the left-wing.
Here's how Miami could lineup against Montreal.
Inter Miami predicted lineup vs CF Montreal ( 4-3-3 )
GK: Drake Callender - He wasn't asked to do much last time out outside of the early goal conceded, and that same theme could continue against a Montreal attack that's scored just 12 goals this term.
RB: Marcelo Weigandt - The Argentinian full-back looked rather shaky in defense last time out and will aim to put his best foot forward this weekend.
CB: Serhiy Kryvtsov - With Aviles missing the match due to suspension, Kryvtsov makes his first appearance for Miami since March 23 after recovering from a hamstring injury.
CB: Nicolas Freire - Freire struggled in the heart of defense against Red Bulls early on as he was dragged out of position a few times, but he'll look to put that behind him for the upcoming match.
LB: Franco Negri - The experienced left-back keeps his place in the XI while Jordi Alba remains sidelined with a hamstring problem.
CM: Benjamin Cremaschi - Martino could opt for a change of pace in midfield and give the youngster his first start of the season.
CM: Sergio Busquets - Busquets remains one of the first names on the Miami team sheet and continues to deliver week after week.
CM: David Ruiz - The young midfielder provides cover for the Herons' defense alongside Busquets.
RW: Lionel Messi - The greatest of all time looks set to add to his 10 goals and 12 assists in MLS play against a week Montreal defense.
ST: Luis Suarez - With Miami facing a quick turnaround to face Orlando City, Suarez still starts but may play limited minutes in order to be fit to take on their in-state rivals.
LW: Matias Rojas - After coming off the bench to score two fantastic goals, Rojas gets the starting nod at left-wing over Taylor.
