Inter predicted lineup vs Atalanta - Serie A
Inter continue their Scudetto defence on Saturday with a tricky-looking encounter with Atalanta at San Siro - their second match against a member of Serie A's top six in a matter of days.
The Nerazzurri secured a hard-fought victory on the road at Fiorentina on Tuesday night, coming from behind to eventually prevail 3-1 at the Estadio Artemio Franchi despite a dominant first half from the hosts.
New signing Edin Dzeko headed home the crucial go-ahead goal there, taking his tally to four in just five league games thus far. His strike partner Lautaro Martinez has netted three times himself and while Inter can rely on the duo, they pose a threat from all over the pitch.
Here's how Simone Inzaghi will likely set up his team on Saturday afternoon...
Inter lineup to play Atalanta - Serie A
1. Goalkeeper & defenders
Samir Handanovic (GK) - While he has his critics, the Slovenian single-handedly kept Inter in the match in the first half against Fiorentina, making a string of fine saves.
Milan Skriniar (CB) - Didn't have his easiest night against the Viola's tricky Nicolas Gonzalez, but he will doubtless start here as a key member of Inter's back three.
Stefan de Vrij (CB) - Endured a physical battle agains Dusan Vlahovic on Tuesday - keeping the Serb fairly quiet - and can expect the same against Duvan Zapata.
Alessandro Bastoni (CB) - The impressive young defender will continue on the left of the Nerazzurri back three, especially with their centre-back options fairly limited.
2. Wing-backs & midfielders
Denzel Dumfries (RWB) - Matteo Darmian got on the scoresheet in midweek, but Inzaghi may well rotate him as he continues to bed Denzel Dumfries into the side. Will be a good battle with Robin Gosens.
Nicolo Barella (CM) - Just as well he's fully fit, as Arturo Vidal is unavailable for this one. Expect the Italian to get through plenty of work in midfield as usual.
Marcelo Brozovic (CM) - Struggled in the first half on Tuesday but recovered to anchor the midfield brilliantly in the second period. Guaranteed starter.
Hakan Calhanoglu (AM) - Hasn't been all that impressive in the last couple of games, but with Stefano Sensi out he'll be given the opportunity to rediscover some form.
Ivan Perisic (LWB) - While he doesn't necessarily look comfortable defending, the 32-year-old certainly poses a threat going forward. Scored his first of the season late on at Fiorentina.
3. Forwards
Edin Dzeko (ST) - The club's leading marksman so far this season. While he will eventually need a rest at the grand old age of 35, he was taken off with 20 minutes to go on Tuesday so will surely start here.
Lautaro Martinez (ST) - The Argentine will be looking to add to his own tally. Was given a late rest in midweek too so will almost certainly start here with Joaquin Correa out injured.
