Inter predicted lineup vs Juventus - Serie A
Reigning Italian champions Inter face the Juventus side they dethroned last season in Serie A's titanic clash on Sunday evening.
The Nerazzurri may have knocked Juve off their lofty perch but their incoming manager, Simone Inzaghi, has endured a tumultuous record against the Old Lady - and his opposite number Massimiliano Allegri - throughout his Serie A career. Of teams and managers Inzaghi has faced more than twice in Italy's top flight, Juventus and Allegri emerge as his most successful foes.
Nevertheless, here's who Inzaghi may deploy in an attempt to avoid past failings against Sunday's opponents.
Inter predicted lineup vs Juventus - Serie A
1. Goalkeeper & defenders
Samir Handanovic (GK) - Inter's long-serving keeper racked up his 400th appearance for the club in midweek, just eight shy of the legendary figure whose name adorns the stadium Sunday's fixture will be played in, Giuseppe Meazza.
Milan Skriniar (CB) - With just one win in 13 meetings against Juve (and a straight red card), Skriniar has an even worse record against the deposed champions than his manager.
Stefan de Vrij (CB) - Reunited with his former Lazio coach, De Vrij is nailed on to make his 90th appearance under Inzaghi across all competitions on Sunday.
Alessandro Bastoni (CB) - Dropped for the Champions League visit of Sheriff Tiraspol on Tuesday after his handball gave Lazio a foothold in Inter's first league defeat of the season, Bastoni could well return to the fold.
2. Wing-backs & midfielders
Matteo Darmian (RWB) - Currently locked in a staffeta - a relay - with Denzel Dumfries down Inter's right, Darmian is set to take up the baton having sat out the midweek win.
Nicolo Barella (CM) - Having started every game for club and country this season Barella isn't set for a spell on the sidelines any time soon, let alone for a fixture of this stature.
Marcelo Brozovic (CM) - The ticking metronome of Inter's midfield is an undisputed mainstay.
Arturo Vidal (CM) - Fresh from his first start of the season, Vidal's goal and spritely display against Sheriff may have earned him a starting berth against his former side.
Ivan Perisic (LWB) - Returned to his shackles on the left wing, the devilishly versatile Croatian continues to impress wherever he is deployed.
3. Forwards
Lautaro Martinez (ST) - With more than a flicker of sleep to prepare this weekend, Inter's well-travelled Argentina international will almost certainly return to their Serie A starting XI this weekend.
Edin Dzeko (ST) - Inter's new number nine has rapidly adapted to life in Milan but has accrued more yellow cards (three) than goals (two) in his previous ten meetings with Juventus.
