Jeremy Doku tells Rennes he wants to join Manchester City
- Ligue 1 club looking to receive £50m fee for Belgian star
- West Ham have also made bid for Doku but he only wants to join Premier League champions
- Doku was not involved for Rennes at the weekend
Jeremy Doku has told Rennes that he only wants to join Manchester City having already agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions, sources have confirmed to 90min.
The Belgian international winger has been linked with a number of clubs this summer including Chelsea and West Ham, the latter of whom have made an offer to Rennes.
But Doku is not looking to move anywhere other than City and 90min understands that he has made it clear to Rennes that the Etihad Stadium is the only destination for him. Talks have already been held with both the club and player, with personal terms on a five-year contract agreed and in place.
Doku joined Rennes from Anderlecht three years ago and has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young wingers in Europe.
With his profile higher than ever, 90min understands that Rennes are looking to settle on a deal worth close to €60m (£51.4m) which would dwarf their previous club-record €35m sales of Ousmane Dembele to Borussia Dortmund and Nayef Aguerd to West Ham.
City, who are looking to replace Riyad Mahrez on the right wing, are not believed to have been put off by Rennes' asking price and are ready to firm up their initial verbal interest with a former offer.
Doku was not involved in Rennes' 1-1 draw with surprise Champions League qualifiers RC Lens at the weekend, with head coach Bruno Genesio fuelling speculation after the game by saying: "If he didn't start [this week], even though he was our best player last week, I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions."
