Manchester United are interested in Julian Nagelsmann as a possible replacement for current manager Erik ten Hag, according to a report.

The Red Devils are in the midst of a rather underwhelming season which most recently saw them concede a staggering 31 shots in a 1-1 draw away at Brentford. They sit sixth in the Premier League standings and are considered outsiders to qualify for next year's Champions League, though they have a strong chance of reaching a second successive FA Cup final after being drawn with Coventry City in the semi-finals.

As a result of United's tepid campaign, Ten Hag's future has been called into question, particularly after INEOS purchased a 28% stake in the club and have taken over football operations.

The Independent report that Nagelsmann, who is currently in charge of the German national team, is 'of increasing interest' to United in case they do decide to make a change of manager. He was previously been linked with a move to Old Trafford during his time at RB Leipzig.

90min revealed earlier this week that Nagelsmann is also under consideration for the job at United's bitter rivals Liverpool, who are still searching for a successor to the departing Jurgen Klopp. However, the Reds are carrying out due diligence on his surprise sacking from Bayern Munich in March 2023 - the German giants were not impressed by confidence which bordered on arrogance.

While Nagelsmann is keen to return to club management, he is unlikely to be able to take over at any new side until mid-July due to Germany's participation at Euro 2024 on home soil. They recorded a statement win away at tournament favourites France during the March international window.
