Juventus 1-1 Inter: Player ratings as Derby d'Italia ends in stalemate

First half goals from Dusan Vlahovic and Lautaro Martinez ensured that Juventus and Inter's top of the table clash finished 1-1 on Sunday evening.

Vlahovic had given Juve a crucial lead before Lautaro bagged an equaliser just five minutes later to keep Inter top of the Serie A table after gameweek 13.

The result means that Inter remain two points clear of Juve at the top of the table.

How the game unfolded

Juventus started the game extremely brightly, pressing forward with real intent in search of the opening goal; and they almost got it in the 15th minute when Federico Chiesa found himself in acres of space with the ball at his feet just inside the penalty area. After controlling, the Italian forward was, however, unable to find the top left corner of the net with his subsequent effort on goal - curling just over the bar.

In the 26th minute, the home side deservedly took the lead thanks to some wonderful combination play from Chiesa and strike partner Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian brilliantly found Chiesa with a pass around the corner before then racing into the box to latch on to a subsequent pull back cross and coolly slot the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.

That lead didn't last for too long however, as Inter hit back with a wonderful team goal just five minutes later. A sweeping move from I Nerazzurri down the right flank culminated in Marcus Thuram drilling the ball into the path of Lautaro Martinez at the near post. As expected, Serie A's top goalscorer made no mistake with his finish, brilliantly drilling into the far bottom corner to level the scores.

At start of the second half, Juventus noticeably dropped deep into their own defensive third and allowed Inter to dominate possession.

Juve's tactical tweak ensured that the second half proved to be a rather dull watch and, although Inter retained the ball well, they were rarely able to trouble the deep defensive line of the home side.

GK - Wojciech Szczesny - 6/10 - Had a bit more to do than Sommer, but not too much more to be honest.

CB: Federico Gatti - 5/10 - Caught out by Lautaro's clever movement in the lead up to the goal.

CB: Gleison Bremer - 7/10 - Won possession for his side on six occasions and was generally as solid as ever.

CB: Daniele Rugani - 6/10 - Defended well in the second half in particular.

RM - Andrea Cambiaso - 5/10 - Booked early on and didn't really see enough of the ball throughout.

CM - Weston McKennie - 4/10 - He failed to have any real impact on proceedings.

CM - Hans Nicolussi Caviglia - 6/10 - A solid senior debut for Juventus. Work hard off the ball.

CM - Adrien Rabiot - 7/10 - The best of Juve's midfield three, winning six duals during a battling performance.

LM - Filip Kostic - 5/10 - His delivery from the left flank simply wasn't up to scratch on the night.

ST - Dusan Vlahovic - 7/10 - Scored a brilliant goal to give his side the lead.

ST - Federico Chiesa - 7/10 - A constant threat with his running and sheer determination on and off the ball. Bagged an assist for the opening goal.

CB - Stefan de Vrij - 5/10 - Caught out by Vlahovic in the lead up to the opener.

CB - Francesco Acerbi - 6/10 - Saw a lot of the ball, as evidenced by the 120 passes he completed.

RM - Denzel Dumfries - 5/10 - Rarely made a mark in the offensive third.

CM - Nicolo Barella - 6/10 - The driving force in Inter's midfield during first half, but faded in the second.

CM - Hakan Calhanoglu - 7/10 - Barely put a foot wrong throughout the game, completing 94% of his passes on the night.

CM - Henrikh Mkhitaryan - 6/10 - Used the ball well and worked hard when out of possession.

LM - Federico Dimarco - 5/10 - A few eye-catching passes in the first half but ultimately couldn't make his mark on the game.

ST - Marcus Thuram - 7/10 - His link-up play with Lautaro was impressive throughout, particularly in the lead up to the goal.

ST - Lautaro Martinez - 8/10 - Scored a wonderful goal to draw his side level.
