Juventus enquire about Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg & Thomas Partey transfer availability
- Juventus sporting director spotted at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
- Italian giants linked with several names
- The latest on their search for a new midfielder
Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli checked the availability of both Arsenal's Thomas Partey and Tottenham Hotspur's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg during his trip to London, sources have confirmed to 90min.
Giuntoli was spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday evening, with the Juve official in the stands for Spurs' dramatic 4-1 defeat at the hands of London rivals Chelsea.
As expected, Giuntoli's attendance at the game prompted Juventus fans to speculate over which players the club could have been scouting.
90min understands that Juve's new sporting director - hired during the summer following a Scudetto-winning spell at SSC Napoli - held 'numerous' meetings while at the game, including one regarding the club's noted interest in Tottenham midfielder Hojbjerg.
Giuntoli was fortunately in the stands to watch one of Hojbjerg's lengthiest appearances for the Lilywhites so far this season, with the Denmark international introduced at the end of the first half as a replacement for the injury-stricken Micky van de Ven.
The 28-year-old has managed just one start in all competitions for Tottenham under their new manager Ange Postecoglu, and Juventus see him as a potential January transfer window target.
Along with discussing Hojbjerg, sources have confirmed to 90min that Giuntoli also held a meeting to discuss the availability of Arsenal's Partey during his trip to London.
90min recently reported that the Ghanaian is frustrated with his reduced role at Arsenal this season and would consider his options if his minutes didn't improve before Christmas. However, an injury at the end of October could rule the midfielder out until the new year, thus likely changing his stance.
The pair are among a number of midfielders that Juventus have been linked with since news broke that Nicolo Fagioli and Paul Pogba are set to be unavailable for the foreseeable future. Fagioli has received a seven month ban over gambling breaches, while Pogba is awaiting to find out the length of his ban from football for doping violations.
The suspensions have left Juve notably short in midfield, leading to a number of players being scouted. Along with Partey and Hojbjerg, 90min has reported that the Bianconeri are also interested in the services of OGC Nice star Khephren Thuram. The influence of Khephren's father, Lilian, who previously played for the club is said to give Juve a slight edge of other suitors such as Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
Juventus also scouted the extremely talented Andre during Fluminense's recent successful Copa Libertadores run. Flu are expecting to sell their star man during the January transfer window, with Liverpool and Arsenal also taking interest in his services.
