Kylian Mbappe becomes PSG's all-time leading scorer

Kylian Mbappe scored his record 201st goal for Paris Saint-Germain in a 4-2 win against Nantes on Saturday night, becoming the highest scorer in the club's history.

The mercurial forward recently moved level with Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani on 200 PSG goals, and in the dying embers of their most recent victory, edged ahead of him atop Les Parisiens' all-time charts.

With Nantes running out of steam, Mbappe desperately tried to score late on to become the outright record-holder. During five minutes of stoppage time, he was picked out by wing-back Timothee Pembele in the middle of the penalty area, swivelling and firing past goalkeeper Alban Lafont.

Mbappe first joined PSG on an initial loan from Monaco in 2017, eventually making the move permanent for a whopping €180m.

He scored on his debut for the club in a 5-1 win against Metz, ending his debut season with 21 goals in 44 games and leading France to World Cup victory that summer.

After swapping the number 29 shirt for the vacated 7, Mbappe stepped his scoring exploits up several gears. He found the net 33 times in 29 games in the 2018/19 season and has scored at least 30 in all competitions in each campaign for PSG since, with his lowest tally coming in the COVID-cancelled 2019/20 year.

Mbappe is currently two goals clear at the top of the Ligue 1 scoring charts having won the division's Golden Boot in each of the last four seasons.
