LAFC predicted lineup vs LA Galaxy - MLS
- LAFC sit in first place in the Western Conference table with 40 points
- The Black and Gold are on an 11-match unbeaten run across all competitions
- Cherundolo could look to make a change in the center of defense to bring in more experience against the talented Galaxy attack
LAFC will look to extend their impressive unbeaten streak when they take on in-state rival LA Galaxy in the latest edition of El Trafico.
The Black and Gold have managed nine goals in their last two games with emphatic victories over San Jose Earthquakes and Colorado Rapids. Steve Cherundolo's side will look to continue that theme against their bitter rivals at Dignity Health Sports Park, but they face stiff competition in keeping their place atop the Western Conference table.
Cherundolo is not one to typically change things up ahead of big matches, so we'll more than likely see the 4-3-3 setup used with Maxime Chanot possibly slotting into the backline over Aaron Long. MLS icon Kei Kamara could look to outsmart the inexperienced Jalen Neal in the Galaxy backline as he aims to add to his two goals scored in 2024.
Here's how the Black and Gold could lineup to take on the Galaxy.
LAFC predicted lineup vs LA Galaxy ( 4-3-3 )
GK: Hugo Lloris - The veteran Frenchman might find it difficult to keep his ninth clean sheet of the 2024 season, but will definitely be tested throughout the match.
RB: Sergi Palencia - Palencia will be eager to keep up his impressive recent run of form against the talented Galaxy attacking unit.
CB: Jesus Murillo - The 30-year-old defender might have to play with a little bit of caution given he's on four yellow cards and could miss LAFC's next match with another booking Wednesday night. However, LAFC can't go into the match without the Colombia international as he's still one of the best central defenders in MLS.
CB: Maxime Chanot - The Luxembourg international slots into the backline in place of Aaron Long as his experience will be key vs the likes of Dejan Joveljic, Gabriel Pec and Joseph Paintsil.
LB: Ryan Hollingshead - Hollingshead remains one of LAFC's most important and consistent players that continues to deliver week in and week out.
CM: Timothy Tillman - The USMNT midfielder is enjoying a solid season in the middle of the park with four goals and nine assists.
CM: Ilie Sanchez - There aren't many better central midfielders that can control the tempo of a match like Sanchez.
CM: Eduard Atuesta - In his second stint with LAFC, Atuesta started off strong but hasn't got in on any goal scoring action in recent weeks.
RW: Mateusz Bogusz - The versatile attacker continues to prove his worth to Cherundolo with 12 goals scored in 2024 -- the second-most on the team behind Bouanga.
ST: Kei Kamara - Kamara might not see out the full 90 given he played 79 minutes on Saturday night, but he's still capable of giving any defense problems with the likes of Bouanga and Bogusz running in behind.
LW: Denis Bouanga - The reigning Golden Boot winner will be fully focused on finding the back of the net to increase his chances as repeating the league's top scorer (he's currently on 12 goals) and of course giving his team a shot at victory.
