Lautaro Martinez scores twice as Inter retain Coppa Italia
Inter came from an early goal down to beat Fiorentina in Wednesday night's 2023 Coppa Italia final in Rome, thanks to a brace from star forward Lautaro Martinez.
It means that Inter will end the season with at least two trophies, having also already claimed the Supercopa Italiana with victory over city rivals Milan in January. The Nerazzurri have retained both domestic cups following earlier successes during the 2021/22 season.
Simone Inzaghi's team could yet make it a treble of trophies this campaign, with the Champions League final - the club's first since 2010 - still to come against Manchester City next month.
But things didn't go to plan for Inter when Nico Gonzalez put Fiorentina ahead inside three minutes, finishing from a tight angle at the far post.

Martinez had ideas of his own though. The Argentine pulled Inter level with just under half an hour played, ghosting into space behind the Fiorentina defence to latch onto Marcelo Brozovic's pass. A clever stepover got the ball where he wanted it, before unleashing a powerful finish.
Inter had turned the game on its head before the half-time interval. The go-ahead goal was arguably better, seeing Nicola Barella put the ball into a dangerous area and Martinez throwing his right boot towards it to volley his team into the lead and, eventually, victory.
Veteran goalkeeper Samir Handanovic also emerged a hero for Inter before the end, twice denying Fiorentina sub Luka Jovic as he threatened to force extra-time.
