Chelsea ran riot on Saturday afternoon as they stormed to a routine 3-0 victory over Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

Thomas Tuchel's men could have had an early lead through Ben Chilwell, whose effort thundered away off the bar - much to the delight of his former supporters.

After dominating possession, the lead did come in the 14th minute as Antonio Rudiger rose highest to head home from Chilwell's corner.

Against the run of play, Leicester did have the ball in the back of the net through Ademola Lookman, but his 25th minute strike was correctly ruled out for offside.

Just a few minutes later, Chelsea had a goal of their own as N'Golo Kante fired home a beautiful effort from range to give Thomas Tuchel's side a 2-0 lead which could hardly have been more comfortable in the first half.

A change of system made Leicester somewhat more competitive early in the second, but Chelsea still had the next big chance. Chilwell ran on to a pull-back from Callum Hudson-Odoi and his low drive required a solid save from Kasper Schmeichel.

Leicester's first real chance came shortly after the hour mark, when Daniel Amartey's long-range drive needed a diving save from Edouard Mendy to keep out.

Chelsea's third came from Christian Pulisic who, minutes after missing a chance created by Hakim Ziyech, combined with his fellow substitute to slot home with 20 minutes to go. Hudson-Odoi had the ball in the net just seconds after, but VAR rightly ruled it out for offside.

Pulisic had another ruled out for offside ten minutes later, before Reece James' own strike was wiped out for the same reason, forcing Chelsea to settle for just three goals.

Leicester player ratings

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Kasper Schmeichel (GK) - 4/10 - Not a lot he really could have done about the goals but was guilty of some sloppy passing. Did well to keep Chilwell out after the break.

Daniel Amartey (CB) - 3/10 - Seemed more bothered about fouls than anything else.

Jonny Evans (CB) - 4/10 - Guilty of a few too many fouls and looked too slow and clunky at the back. Couldn't keep up with Chelsea's forwards.

Caglar Soyuncu (CB) - 4/10 - Evidently not comfortable on the left. Found it tough to track Chelsea's wide players, but calmed himself down after the break.

2. Midfielders

Marc Albrighton (RM) - 3/10 - Pinned back by Chilwell and could not get into the game whatsoever. Barely offered anything.

Boubakary Soumare (CM) - 3/10 - The Soumare/Ndidi pivot is just not good at all. Neither wants to defend and neither is particularly comfortable going forwards. Made it all too easy.

Wilfred Ndidi (CM) - 4/10 - Struggled in a midfield two but seemed happier dropping a little deeper after the break.

Timothy Castagne (LM) - 3/10 - James had him on toast all game. Soyuncu offered him no help so Castagne was double-teamed every time Chelsea went forward. Not as awful after the break.

3. Forwards

Ademola Lookman (RW) - 5/10 - Ran a lot. Looked like Leicester's biggest threat, but that's not a compliment. Switched out at the break.

Jamie Vardy (ST) - 3/10 - Couldn't get into the game at all. Isolated because of those around him, but probably needed to offer more himself.

Harvey Barnes (LW) - 4/10 - He pressed a lot, but not particularly well and had no help either. Chelsea just passed around him. Hooked at half-time.

4. Substitutes

James Maddison (AM) - 6/10 - Gave Leicester a bit more creativity without really doing anything of note.

Kelechi Iheanacho (ST) - 6/10 - No idea why he doesn't start more often.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (CM) - 6/10 - Came on for the last 15.

5. Goalkeeper & defenders

Edouard Mendy (GK) - 7/10 - Made a great save to deny a long-ranger from Amartey after the hour mark. Impressive he was still awake.

Trevoh Chalobah (CB) - 7/10 - Didn't have too much defending to do but cleverly filled in for James when needed.

Thiago Silva (CB) - 9/10 - Knew he couldn't match Vardy's pace but used his experience to win the battle. Some unreal passing. Oozed class.

Antonio Rudiger (CB) - 8/10 - A nice goal and some great moments at the back. Attacked everything with such force and did everything right.

6. Midfielders

Reece James (RM) - 8/10 - Castagne will be having nightmares. He ran forward whenever possible and was involved in nearly everything Chelsea did.

N'Golo Kante (CM) - 8/10 - Killed Leicester's attacks before they even began (as per) and even added a long-range worldie. What a game.

Jorginho (CM) - 8/10 - Did his job perfectly. Hoovered up possession and kept Chelsea going forwards. Ensured the pressure was relentless. Left late on with a hamstring issue.

Ben Chilwell (LM) - 8/10 - Should have scored early on but bagged the assist for Rudiger's goal. A constant threat down the left.

Mason Mount (AM) - 6/10 - Not at his fluid best but contributed to the overload down the right. Intelligent play off the ball but could have done more on it.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (AM) - 7/10 - Caused a few problems with his relentless pressing and created a good few chances from the left. Not everything came off but he was a menace throughout.

7. Forward

Kai Havertz (ST) - 6/10 - Some really nice touches but generally found it hard to get in behind Leicester. Nearly cleared out Kante with a failed bicycle kick.

8. Substitutes

Hakim Ziyech (AM) - 7/10 - Some nice passes for Pulisic and deserved his assist.

Christian Pulisic (AM) - 7/10 - Fluffed one good chance but managed to convert his second.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (CM) - 6/10 - A quiet cameo after replacing Jorginho late on.
