Craig Dawson netted a controversial last-minute equaliser as Leicester City played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with West Ham at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Issa Diop was drafted into the Hammers' starting lineup after Kurt Zouma - who remains at the centre of the furore surrounding the video of him kicking and slapping his cat - withdrew in the warm-up due to 'illness'.

Zouma's replacement made a positive contribution just ten minutes in, sweeping a long ball over the top which in-form Jarrod Bowen latched on to. The winger cruised through on goal and fired a confident low finish across Kasper Schmeichel and into the bottom corner.

West Ham had a degree of control in the remainder of the first period and Leicester never looked like equalising. That was until they were gifted a golden opportunity to do so when Aaron Cresswell needlessly and inexplicably handled from a corner in first-half stoppage time.

Youri Tielemans stepped up to plant the penalty beyond Lukasz Fabianski and bring the Foxes level.

There was a role reversal in the second half, with Leicester in the ascendancy - buoyed by their equaliser just before the break. Harvey Barnes was at the heart of everything good they did, and he flashed a low ball across the face of goal ten minutes in, but no one was there to finish.

It was Barnes who provided the assist just a minute later as his cross was met by Ricardo Pereira, whose flying header sent the ball into the top corner. The England international was involved again as he cut the ball back for Tielemans, but the Belgian's first-time strike flew just over.

It seemed as though Leicester were heading for an important comeback victory, but in the final minute of normal time Dawson rose highest to meet Bowen's corner and send the ball into the back of the net. Replays showed the ball had come off the defender's upper arm, but a VAR review ruled that it was not handball.

Here's how the players rated...

Leicester City player ratings

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Kasper Schmeichel (GK) - 5/10 - Arguably should have done better to get down to Bowen's strike. Launched a bizarre tirade at Daniel Amartey for stopping play when Michail Antonio was injured.

Ricardo Pereira (RB) - 7/10 - Booked for catching Cresswell late. Excellent flying header into the top corner to give his side the lead.

Daniel Amartey (CB) - 6/10 - Horrid positioning for the opener alongside his centre-back partner. Bit of a barney with Schmeichel when he stopped play. Eventually settled and was solid enough.

Caglar Soyuncu (CB) - 5/10 - Took a heavy blow in an early challenge. Way too high up the pitch when Diop played long into Bowen.

James Justin (LB) - N/A - Lost Bowen as he drifted in off his wing. Picked up a hamstring injury after half an hour and was forced off.

2. Midfielders

Wilfred Ndidi (DM) - 6/10 - Anchored well enough and kept his passing precise, although didn't win a number of his duels.

Youri Tielemans (CM) - 7/10 - Looked a shadow of his former self in the first half and was sloppy in possession. That said, swept home his penalty with aplomb. Grew into the game thereafter and looked much improved, going close from range.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (CM) - 7/10 - Very hard-working, no-frills display from the academy product. Played a couple of key passes and kept things simple.

3. Forwards

James Maddison (RW) - 6/10 - Not heavily involved out wide but showed some nice touches and sprayed passes about when his side needed to keep the ball. Subbed.

Patson Daka (ST) - 4/10 - Ran hard nut didn't really make an impact up top.

Harvey Barnes (LW) - 8/10 - Followed a quiet first half with a scintillating second, causing Vladimir Coufal all sorts of problems and getting the assist for Pereira.

4. Substitutes

Luke Thomas (LB) - 6/10 - Played a role in Leicester's much-improved second half.

Ademola Lookman (RW) - 5/10 - Spurned a half-chance.

Jannik Vestergaard (CB) - 1/10 - Came on and his team immediately conceded from a corner. Great stuff.

5. Goalkeeper & defenders

Lukasz Fabianski (GK) - 5/10 - Barely had anything to do but was still beaten twice. Went the right way for the penalty, but to no avail.

Vladimir Coufal (RB) - 4/10 - Solid enough in the first half but given all sorts of issues by Barnes after the break and eventually subbed.

Craig Dawson (CB) - 7/10 - Fine defensively and rose to meet a late, late equaliser - although the ball did appear to go in off his arm.

Issa Diop (CB) - 7/10 - Brought into the starting lineup with Zouma supposedly struggling with illness. His sweeping ball over the top turned into the perfect through ball for Bowen. Some really solid, front-footed defending too.

Aaron Cresswell (LB) - 3/10 - Ridiculous handball from a corner to concede the penalty. Then beaten in the air too easily by little Pereira for 2-1. Booked, too.

6. Midfielders

Tomas Soucek (CM) - 5/10 - Not at his best at either end. Only completed around half of his passes.

Declan Rice (CM) - 6/10 - Struggled to have his usual impact. Booked for clattering into Wilfred Ndidi. Lacked thrust but still won tackles and passed well.

Manuel Lanzini (AM) - 4/10 - Barely involved as the game passed him by. Hooked with ten minutes to go.

7. Forwards

Jarrod Bowen

Jarrod Bowen (RW) - 8/10 - Took a very early knock but recovered and oozed confidence as he fired his side ahead ten minutes in. Faded after the break barring some flashes of class, but did get the late assist.

Michail Antonio (ST) - 5/10 - Scarcely involved but ran very hard as usual.

Pablo Fornals (LW) - 5/10 - Didn't do anything of note but worked hard. Subbed in the second half.

8. Substitutes

Ryan Fredericks (RB) - 5/10 - Came on to relieve Coufal.

Said Benrahma (LW) - 6/10 - Looked bright but couldn't engineer anything.

Nikola Vlasic (AM) - N/A
