Leicester scored three times in the final 12 minutes of their Premier League clash with Manchester United at the King Power Stadium to secure an emphatic 4-2 win.

The game had been very watchable for the most part but truly sprung into life in the closing stages when Caglar Soyuncu, Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka scored for Leicester, while Marcus Rashford also netted in the midst of that Foxes flurry on his long awaited returned to action.

United had taken the lead against the run of play in the first half when Mason Greenwood unleashed a screamer into the top corner. But Leicester were back on level terms when Kelechi Iheanacho stole the ball off a sluggish Harry Maguire at the half hour stage and fed Youri Tielemans, whose looping effort rippled the back of the net.

Soyuncu put Leicester into a 2-1 lead with just over 10 minutes to go when the ball kindly fell at his feet in front of an open net in the six yard box. But only moments had passed when Rashford equalised at 2-2 after peeling off the back of the Leicester defenders.

Leicester went straight back ahead, almost from kick-off, when Vardy clinically smashed as half volley past David de Gea, while bright substitute Daka made sure of the win in stoppage time.

Leicester player ratings

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Kasper Schmeichel (GK) - 7/10 - Reaction save in the first half from Ronaldo at an absolutely crucial moment in the game.

Daniel Amartey (CB) - 6/10 - Guilty of letting Rashford run in behind him when the score-line went to 2-2.

Jonny Evans (CB) - 7/10 - Had a big role in Leicester's second goal as a physical presence at the set-piece.

Caglar Soyuncu (CB) - 6/10 - Right place at the right time to put Leicester into a 2-1 lead but was too deep when the equaliser came.

2. Midfielders

Ricardo Pereira (RM) - 6/10 - Improved as the game went on.

Boubakary Soumare (CM) - 7/10 - Strong presence in midfield. This performance will do his confidence the world of good.

Youri Tielemans (CM) - 8/10 - Stunning looping strike to get Leicester back on level terms. Often won the ball in midfield and later saw another great effort turned onto the post. Ran the game.

Timothy Castagne (LM) - 7/10 - Covered a lot of ground up and down his flank and pinned Wan-Bissaka well back.

James Maddison (AM) - 6/10 - Decent in his 73 minutes on the pitch.

3. Forwards

Kelechi Iheanacho (ST) - 7/10 - Started very brightly and was a source of danger. Put Maguire under pressure to set up Leicester's equaliser.

Jamie Vardy (ST) - 8/10 - Pressed from the front and rarely gave the visiting defenders a moment of peace. Rewarded with a well-taken goal.

4. Substitutes

Ayoze Perez (AM) - 7/10 - Two assists off the bench.

Jannik Vestergaard (CB) - 6/10 - Defensive solidity at the death.

5. Goalkeeper & defenders

David de Gea (GK) - 7/10 - Outstanding save onto the post stopped Leicester from taking the lead with 15 minutes to go. Made other key saves too. Stood little chance with the goals that went in.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB) - 5/10 - Lost his head to head battle with Castagne. Booked for his troubles as well.

Victor Lindelof (CB) - 5/10 - Found it hard to keep on top of a vibrant Vardy and Iheanacho.

Harry Maguire (CB) - 4/10 - His first game back from several weeks out and it showed at times. Sluggish in possession when Leicester equalised.

Luke Shaw (LB) - 5/10 - Usually makes much more of an impact on games.

6. Midfielders

Nemanja Matic (CM) - 5/10 - Struggled to keep pace with the game.

Paul Pogba (CM) - 5/10 - Not able to affect and influence things as he would have liked. Doesn't work in this deeper position.

Bruno Fernandes (AM) - 6/10 - In and out of the game for the most part. An 'assist' is generous given it was a sideways five yard pass.

7. Forwards

Mason Greenwood opened the scoring

Mason Greenwood (RW) - 7/10 - Netted the thunderous opening goal out of nowhere. Few strike a ball as cleanly as he does. Probably his team's most consistent attacking threat.

Cristiano Ronaldo (ST) - 5/10 - Brought a top save out of Schmeichel but was generally in the game too infrequently.

Jadon Sancho (LW) - 5/10 - Looking for his feet as a United player and is still struggling to find them. Last just under 65 minutes.

8. Substitutes

Marcus Rashford scored on his first appearance of the season

Marcus Rashford (LW) - 7/10 - Back after shoulder surgery and posed a threat with his pace in behind. Scored a composed goal.

Scott McTominay (CM) - 5/10 - Backed away too much from Perez in the penalty area when Leicester scored their third.

Jesse Lingard (RW) - 5/10 - Not enough time to make a proper impact.
