Leicester fixtures compared to Everton, Leeds & Nottingham Forest after Liverpool defeat
Dean Smith turned to the hit list of Irish rock band The Boomtown Rats to sum up Leicester's approach to the start of the working week.
After Fulham dished out a 5-3 on the coronation bank holiday, it's no surprise that Smith may not like Mondays. However, the Premier League fixture generator wasn't listening to his jukebox selection when it served up the visit of Liverpool on the same day of the week.
The Reds punished some sloppy Foxes defending to run out 3-0 winners, with Trent Alexander-Arnold's free kick adding to Curtis Jones' first-half double.
With just two games of the season to play, Leicester find themselves embroiled in a four-way scuffle to avoid the final two relegation slots ahead of the Championship-bound Southampton.
Here's what lies ahead for the quarter of clubs at the foot of the table.
Leicester's remaining fixtures
Leicester will have to join an exclusive list of three clubs to beat Newcastle at St James' Park during Eddie Howe's tenure. Arsenal added their name alongside Manchester City and Liverpool last weekend but could just as easily have lost.
The Foxes host West Ham for their final fixture of the season. Leicester's 2-0 victory at the London Stadium in November is the club's most recent Premier League clean sheet.
Date / Kick-off Time | Fixture |
---|---|
22/05/23 - 20:00 | Newcastle vs Leicester |
28/05/23 - 16:30 | Leicester vs West Ham |
Everton's remaining fixtures
Everton's final away trip of the season is against bogey side Wolves. The Toffees have lost their last three matches with the carnivorous outfit - the club's longest losing run in this fixture since Wolves earned five consecutive wins during the golden, old gold age under Stan Cullis.
Bournemouth hosted Everton twice in the space of four days before the World Cup, winning both matches at the Vitality Stadium while pillaging seven goals in the process. The Toffees can scarcely afford another drubbing against the Cherries if survival is not secure.
Date / Kick-off Time | Fixture |
---|---|
20/05/23 - 15:00 | Wolves vs Everton |
28/05/23 - 16:30 | Everton vs Bournemouth |
Leeds' remaining fixtures
Leeds close out the 2022/23 campaign with two matches against London sides; West Ham and Tottenham. The proudly Yorkshire outfit have won just one of their 12 league games against capital clubs this season.
Since romping to a wholly misleading 3-0 victory over Chelsea in August, Leeds have taken two points from Big Smoke sides while shipping 29 goals in 11 games.
Date / Kick-off Time | Fixture |
---|---|
21/05/23 - 13:30 | West Ham vs Leeds |
28/05/23 - 16:30 | Leeds vs Tottenham |
Nottingham Forest's remaining fixtures
Forest have to hurdle two tough fixtures before concluding their first Premier League season of the 21st century. After hosting an Arsenal side that has kept an unrivalled ten Premier League clean sheets away from home, Forest travel to Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace - imbued with a new goalscoring verve under Roy Hodgson - were also hard to beat at home during Patrick Vieira's reign. Palace's only loss in their last nine home matches was against Manchester City courtesy of a second-half penalty.
Date / Kick-off Time | Fixture |
---|---|
20/05/23 - 17:30 | Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal |
28/05/23 - 16:30 | Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest |
