Lisandro Martinez opens up on Man Utd dressing room discussion after Newcastle loss
By Sean Walsh
Manchester United's Lisandro Martinez has revealed he and his teammates held talks following their limp loss to Newcastle last Sunday.
The Red Devils' Premier League form following their Carabao Cup triumph - ironically against Newcastle - dipped in March. They were thrashed 7-0 by Liverpool and held to a 0-0 draw at home by bottom club Southampton.
This was followed by a trip to St James' Park to open April and the Magpies tore United apart, the 2-0 scoreline flattering Erik ten Hag's men.
United returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 victory against Brentford on Wednesday. Speaking to the media post-match, Martinez was pleased with how his side responded.
"I really liked the reaction of the team, the effort as well. We won the game and that was good," Martinez said.
"[Ten Hag] was happy. We have to keep going but with this mentality, not like against Newcastle. I'm really happy for the team and really proud as well.
"Now we get the three points and we have to think now to Everton and we have to work a lot."

After losing to Newcastle, Luke Shaw tore into the United squad for losing to a team with more 'passion, hunger, desire and attitude'.
In response to these comments, Martinez said: "I totally agree with him. It's not possible when you lose this kind of game, especially against Newcastle.
"Now every game is a final and you have to play with passion, you have to be ready, you have to be sharp, you have to fight for these three points.
"If you don't do that, I think it's not [showing] respect for this club. You have to be always every game fighting. Fighting for the badge.
"We spoke, we spoke as a team. We know that it is not possible to play [the way they did vs Newcastle], especially these kind of games.
"Like I said in the beginning, we have to fight more than the opponent, we have to play with more passion, we have to play with more energy, you know?
"In the end, we have a really good squad, so we have to have everyone ready to play."
